Just wondering where the coolant temperature sensor is since there's not many videos on youtube showing it specifically being replaced on a b8.5,

To see the coolant sensor, you need to remove the throttle body and its input air hose (from the inter-cooler). Viewed from the driver side fender, it's at the top left corner of the water pump housing.

It is right next to the water pump - between the water pump and oil cooler. You need to remove the throttle body, throttle body air duct and intake manifold brace to get to it. It's basically the first few steps of a water pump replacement, for which there are plenty of videos.

The procedures are covered in FSM, "Servicing - 4 Cylinder 1.8L 2.0L 4V TFSI Engine" Section 2.9 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor - G62-, Removing and Installing. The preliminary work (air duct, TB, brace removal) is covered in FSM, "4 Cylinder Direct Injection 1.8L 2.0L 4V TFSI Engine" Section 2.9 (for the air duct removal), Section 4.3 (for the throttle body removal), and back to the "Servicing" FSM Section 2.9 for the IM brace removal and sensor replacement.

If you do not have the Factory Service Manuals you can download PDF's of everything for your VIN at erwin.audiusa.com. There might be a write up or two on the forum about doing the one day subscription and finding what you need.
