Let's talk about the Black badges...

    Hello guys,

I realize looks are subjective but, I'm going to be honest, I do not like the black Audi rings and badges. I never liked them dating all the way back to the B6 era when I first saw them. I don't like the lack of contrast between the grille emblems...on the RS cars it is even worst because the grilles are completely gloss black.

That being said, Audi is giving me a headache over the badges by not giving us a choice of chrome or black with black/carbon optics packages (in Canada, black optics actually comes with chrome badges). I ordered a new RS6 in Feb. and was just recently given an estimated production and delivery date. Date is in April 2023 so I would have waited 14 months for the car upon taking delivery. I think most people, after waiting so long for a car, would like to receive exactly what they desire. I'm even paying $9900 for an Audi Exclusive color and, even with that, there is no option for chrome badges. I know I can swap out the black badges myself but, based on all my research, to swap the rings and model designation on the front requires the front bumper to be removed. This is the most expensive car I ever purchased, I don't want to start removing body parts and risk messing up the gaps on a brand new car.

Any thoughts/solutions? I would like to know what others in this situation have done.

    Thanks!

I was in the opposite situation and that my car being BO in Canada, came with silver. My dealer swapped the front rings for me and when time came to get the PPF done, detailer removed rear and I applied the black.

Other than that, you’re unfortunately SOL as they cant override packages as far as I know.

Oh, you don’t technically need to remove the grille to remove the front rings especially if you don’t plan to keep the rings you remove.

I personally prefer the blacked out badges, but does look nice either way. My wife's SQ8 surprised me and came in with blacked out badges as ordered (port installed), but there was a shortage for quite a while on most if not all models.

Thanks for the reply...if the front bumper doesn't have to be removed then I will just have my PPF guy replace them after I take delivery. When you say "... if you don’t plan to keep the rings you remove" I'm assuming that is a subtle way of saying, if you break the badges, then you don't need to remove the front bumper lol. But hey, if your guy was able to do it without damaging the grille then I'm game.

I completely agree. When I first saw the black badges in person I thought the car had the rings stolen. Just makes for a massive black grille with no contrast.

I was pleasantly surprised when they changed the BO package to chrome badges for 2023 in Canada.
