EBC NDX Bluestuff Brake Pad -- Need opinions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I ordered a set of these for my car and have been hearing reviews ranging from

"They will thrash your rotors and and ruin your track day"

    To

"These are great street performance pads for daily driving, canyon runs and the occasional track day"

I live in Los Angeles, frequent the Angeles Crest Mtns(it's a 10min drive from my house) and plan on tracking my RS3 in January.

Can anyone who has used the pads and have real world experience with them share their thoughts. I'm torn btwn these and the more aggreasive Carbotexh XP10s.

This is my first time looking into replacing pads and I'm overwhelmed by the range of opinions for every pad I look at.

I asked the guy who runs track days locally about EBC pads, and his response were that they are inconsistent. So that lines up with the variance in opinions. I'm trying out Carbotech XP10s on mine. Will be installing this weekend and tracking.

Brake pads are all about a balance of dust, rotor life, pad life, noise, and heat tolerance. So really it just depends on your uses. I would use them on the track, and if they are too noisy, switch them out for street use. Usually, track focused pads do eat rotors faster if they are cold.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Will you be running the XP10s as your daily setup as well or just for track? Also, were you able to find the rears for the 8Y?

I still have a good amount of life on my stock front pads, so I'll decide based on how noisy the XP10s are. I might keep them on if I'm planning to go back to the track soon, but if it's gonna be a few months, I might switch them out.
The stock rears didn't wear much after my first track day, so I haven't bought any. I did make a thread about the available pad options for the 8Y. There is one set of rears available right now. I have reached out to Pagid reps to figure out if there are any options available, but I haven't gotten confirmation. I want to try out their RSL-29s compound.

Some brake linings do show up in google if you search the part number. It's probably the correct part, but there are no pics, and they are not cheap.

Not the exact pads you are asking for but I ran 1521's on Neuspeed rotors for the street, socal canyons, and 2 track days. They are perfect for street and canyons but once you really push them on the track, you'll instantly see they aren't sufficient. I ate through my front pads in 2 track days at SOW CW and CCW. Since my fronts were low, I switched out to XP8's and you can tell they are a track pad. The initial bite and overall braking power is night and day. I feel like I almost slammed my head into the steering wheel when bedding them in. The trade off's are obvious. They are noisy/squeaky, smell even with normal braking, vibrate a bit more, and will probably wear my rotors faster but its okay because race car.

I am running Blue NDX front pads w/AP rotors, and stock rear pads/rotors. I can't speak of their track performance, but they are great for street and fast back...canyons They are a decent upgrade over the Yellowstuff, but they do dust more, as advertised. The J-hooks are nearly invincible with EBC brakes, and I have never experienced any fade or inconsistencies whatsoever. Audi air ducts were added for good measure with CF zip ties...Seriously though, for bombing the Rockies, the combination is bomb proof.

Can you link me to those air ducts and CF zip ties?

On their website it says they do not fit the 8Y.
