    B9 (2018 S5) Pre-Sense Braking - Can not take it anymore!

    Hi everyone.
I bought my 2018 S5 prestige brand new, and since almost the very beginning I have had this annoying issue with Rear Pre-Sense Braking false positives. I think I am definitely not the only one with this issue, as I have seen threads on numerous Audi and Non-Audi forums regarding this issue. I have complained numerous times to the dealer about the system but they always say there is nothing they can do. Last time they claimed to have reduced sensitivity on the sensors, but the issue is still pretty much unbearable.

The actual issue is not being able to parallel park on busy streets which is pretty much every street where i am at. It is nearly impossible to back up with cars driving by me, the system triggers all the time, and the only way to parallel park is to wait for a period of no cars passing by which is a forever wait here or turn the system off using MMI submenu. Of course that takes time to do every time you are parking on a busy street and is extremely annoying, not to mention unsafe. At some point I would disable pre-sense every time i start my car, but that too is a non-solution since you have to remember to do it and sometimes you just don't have the time. Whats even more bizzare is that at least once the system fired off even with PRESENSE being turned off in the MMI.

When i asked the dealer that i am ok to permanently disable this system, they said nothing they can do (I am guessing there must be some liability involved, but that makes little sense as non-prestige models do not have this system and thus don't have this issue). The reason i got prestige btw is because i wanted the HUD display, which was not available as a separate option on the Prem+.

Which brings me to the question: Is it in any way possible to disable automatic break slamming by the system, or disable Presence entirely? I have researched ROSSTECH forums and whatever info i could find here as well but there is never a clear answer for my particular model (2018 S5 Prestige). I would appreciate any info you can provide before spending money on VCDS system.

Short answer is no as it’s integrated into various body control modules. If you try and disconnect the sensors, you get a Christmas tree of warning lights on your dash. There is no way to code it out.

Best you can probably do is compare the coding and adaptations and basic settings between vehicles with various 6K_ PR codes. 6K8 is titled "pre sense city", but represents the braking assistance + emergency braking.

You could try pulling the fuse for the rear radars and see if the new vehicle state is superior for your need. Fuse 4 in the brown-16 column in the left rear. If the radars are not operating, none of the rear stuff can function.

New cars have been intentionally designed to interfere with my control of the vehicle. They are dead to me until they are fully self driving and I have no interaction with vehicle control.

Thank you and yes spot on the new vehicles. Its almost as if is intentional (it is:)
I posted in the Q7 forum about the constant LTE chatter in full privacy mode on my 2021 Q7 55... trying to see if that can be disabled as well.

I'm in the same situation. It used to give me a mini heart attack every time I backed into a parking spot too fast. Now I turn off ESC which disables pre-sense. It's just a long hold of the ESC button.
You'll get pre-sense warning in the dash along with some red icons in the bottom corners of the back up camera screen that look like a foot pressing a pedal; that's what they look like to me at least.

I am going to try the ESC method. If it works it will be a GodSend!!! I wish they had a separate physical button to turn the damn thing off!

haha, i experienced this in my 2019 A5 i just picked up a month ago, backing into a parking space relatively quickly the car just put on the full brakes. Freaked me the hell out! I was able to turn off the Audi Pre sense module just from the cars menu in the car. Its also freaked me out once coming up to a car on the highway, made me slow down pretty quick even though i know i had room.

I wish i could get an S5 without all this "tech" trying to drive the car. I can do a much better job. That and a manual transmission (in the US).
