    Buying Advice B9 RS5 (B9 vs B9.5 questions)

Hi all. Been a good 2 years since I've been behind the rings (my girl got a B9 SQ5 recently which has been a blast). I'm coming from a B8 S5 4.2 I got rid of in Dec 2020. Looking at a 2018-19 RS5 now but I've been told the rocker arms could be an issue on MY18s - can anyone confirm this and with extended warranty would this be an issue? without warranty? Any other drastic changes between 2018-19 and better yet, other than the facelift bits, major improvements on the B9.5?

Wondering if 2019 would be safer bet but I've been watching this guy like a hawk and it checks my boxes (5-8Kmiles/year max, GREY stitch a must, black optic, dynamic pkg). Unsure if the ceramics would become a nuisance as a DD though. thoughts. Its dropped about $6k in the last 5 weeks..

Audicare and extended warranty would be of concern depending on 2018 and 2019 as well. What are your thoughts and what would be smart play here?

    Things I plan to do
    -Ohlins R&T coilovers
    -034 stage 1+
    -034 inserts
    -wheels + tires
    -carbon mirrors
    -tint
    '12 S5 4.2L Prestige - Ibis, Black w/ Carbon Optic
    JHM Stg2 + TCU
    Custom Exhaust
    AWE S-Flo Carbon Intake
    Ohlins R&T Coilovers
    ST60 BBK w/ G-Loc Pads
    034 everything

Here's a write up I did on the differences I've found owning both.

Solid write up! Thanks. I guess the suspension factor is a big one regarding firmness and I loved the Ohlins coilovers I had on my S5, it was unbelievably smooth yet rode on rails at high speed turns so if I throw coilovers on the car, I guess thats a wash. Sound damping is a little turn off - putting exhaust on the car regardless so it is what it is.

Since you are planning in spending more money on the above mods I would just get a nice 2019 model because they are $20-30K difference in price so with the money you save you can buy all those goodies. In addition, the 2019 exhaust sounds better in my opinion. Inside the car pretty much the same and 2021 and up I still find the ride very bumpy so not much of a difference. 2021 cosmetics looks are really the only change which is not worth spending $20-30K for. After you buy some nicer wheels and lower the car it will look better than any stock RS5 in my opinion. Good luck in your search and let us know what you decide to do.

$75k and I’ve done most the mods. At that price I keep my wheels. Factory ones are brand new. It’s a 21 with 9000 miles.
