Silvers NEOMAX Coilovers B8.5 Review Thread

Was having a hard time deciding on a good value coil over set after finding out my front H&R OE Sport Springs were broken. I am at 80K miles, so figured I would just redo the whole suspension.

I ended up buying Silvers Coilovers after seeing good reviews online and on different cars. They looked like solid build quality and they use digressive shock valving vs typical linear valving. Supposedly providing a much softer ride when hitting bumps / potholes but should retain firmness around twisties. I live in Cleveland and our roads are terrible, so this was important for my build. I was also considering BC Racings BR line, which use standard linear valving. Others have stated I would have needed to upgrade to BC’s DS line to be comparable. I did not want to spend the extra money or wait on the custom kit lead times. I also like that they stand behind their product with an 18 month warranty. I did not see any reviews for the B8 / B8.5 so I thought I would document my install and experiences for the community.

I ordered these directly from Silvers (https://silvers-na.com/), as they were the same price as most retailers. They were really helpful, the sales team spent about 20 minutes with me and addressed all my questions. This is my daily driver so I ordered with their standard springs and height, they also offer upgrades to Swift Springs. Looks like you can order custom springs / spring rates or even customize a full build. Ordered them before Turkey Day, and they have already shipped and should be here early next week. So pretty quick order to ship time. Will get some pictures once they get here.

Question: If I am doing Coilovers at 80K, any recommendations on what other parts I should replace at the same time as installation? Any wear parts or other?

would be a great time to address any potential wear on control arms/bushings. Mine started to show slight signs of wear at 90k

I would do it all. Control arm kit and strut mounts. I used kyb mounts and they are identical to stock. My strut mount rubbers were collapsed pretty badly by 98k when I did it all. Just be sure after you decide a good height for your car you loosen and re tighten all control arms and sway links so bushings are in a relaxed state at final ride height.

Thank you both for the heads up on these, would rather handle this while the car is apart. I am going to talk to my mechanic and ECS tuning is not very far away from me I am in OH.

Alrighty here is the first update with some eye candy. Box was shipped relatively quickly and everything came undammaged and in great shape. Pack job was awesome, so they get high marks for attention to details. I hope the Coils are as nice as the packing. Here are the pics:

Can you measure the diameter on the coilover tube? Looks to be nice and beefy.

Give me a few days, they are under a set of winter tires waiting to get installed. I ordered the cup kit install kit from ECS, with the upgraded 034 Density Mounts (https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assemble...0412377cktkt6/). Gonna borrow some tools from my buddy and hope to do these myself before new years.aNY

I saw the ECS install instructions, any other good instructions Pre Reads or Video's I need to watch before starting this project? For those of you who have installed these before, how difficult is this truly?

I believe the shock body is 52 or 54MM and the actual piston is 44mm. I will be installing shortly, had to wait for some parts.
