Purchased my Kyalami Green RS3 yesterday from Audi Nyack in New York. I ended up flying there to see the car in person, did a quick test drive, and paid for the car. Overall, it was a good experience since they sold the car at msrp and picked and dropped me off at the airport. I was slightly annoyed that the "out the door" pricing sheet the finance manager emailed me days before was about $1,500 off from the actual deal sheet. For instance, they didn't disclose in the email that there was an "Out of State" fee of $150 and a $100 "fuel surcharge". Plus, I don't think the person responsible for registering vehicles knows what they're doing - they charged me my state's general sales tax of 7.25 instead of 6.5 for motor vehicles so TTL was about $1,250 over. I didn't put up a fight because I know by law those monies have to be refunded to me once my local DMV processes the title and license for the actual amount. In the grand scheme of things, those are minor annoyances because did I mention I got the car at msrp? Wow, how excited we are these days when we don't have to pay a markup LOL!
Also, I'm glad I flew there in person to see the car, but here's a few caveats I've learned along the way. If you have seen the car you want in person and better yet, test drove one, save yourself the time and money if you're far away from the selling dealer. I had to take a day off from work and it was basically a 12 hour marathon. The reason I felt compelled to fly there is because I have never seen Kyalami Green in the flesh and had to see it with my own eyes to determine if I liked it or not. Lo and behold it was love at first sight! Moreover, this is the first time I've bought something out of state so it felt unnatural to drop almost $70k cash buying something without seeing it first. Next time I would definitely feel more comfortable.
Cheers!
