Chipped 1.8T - NGK BKR7EIX-11 Spark Plugs Still The Best?

    Hello Everyone,

Just as the post states, are the NGK BKR7EIX-11 spark plugs still recommended for an APR Stage 1+ 1.8T (with R8 / 2.0T coils)? I'm starting to get a bit of misfiring under heavy boost and with the cooler weather, I figured swapping out my plugs is an easy early diagnosis step.

Thanks in advance to everyone for your time and help, it is greatly appreciated.

I don't have your tune, but when I tried those plugs the center electrodes eroded like crazy and I started getting misfire codes within 15K miles. Pull a plug or two and have a look at them. Rounded, pitted center electrode? Gap way bigger than spec? Re-gapping clears up the misfiring? So I switched to these and have had no problems since. Both electrodes are made of the most non-reactive precious metal there is.

The NGK BKR7EIX-11 is not really the correct plug. The -11 indicates an 1.1mm gap (.043"). The standard NGK BKR7EIX comes with a .8mm gap (.031"). It wouldn't be a bad idea to reduce it even a little more. I typically run a .7mm gap (.028").

P.S.-- my coil packs are bone stock. Yours make a hotter spark, which would make the problem worse.

Thanks Fletcher! I was going off memory and what people in this post recommended with the 2.0T coils:

I've had zero issues with these NGK BKR7EIX-11 plugs since installing them in 2017.
