    034 Drain Plug Leak

Has anyone else had any issues with the 034 Billet magnetic drain plug leaking? I ensured the drain hole was clean, used their supplied crush washers, threaded it in by hand then torqued it to spec. I have always used new OEM style plugs with copper crush washers in the past and have never had any issues with leaks. After I installed the 034 plug I leaked out about a quart of oil onto my garage floor. I contacted their customer service via email looking for any suggestions as to why but I received no other response other than offering new crush washers which I already have a ton of as I bought the kit with extras. I ended up calling the dealer and getting a new OEM plug and crush washer and it did not leak after I used that. I trust 034's product quality but I am skeptical to try it again next oil change. Thank you for any suggestions.

Huh..........I didn't know aftermarket drain plugs were a thing, mine still keeps the oil from leaking out just fine. How many horsepowers did you get from it? Sounds like a quality product.

Had the same issue. The washers they provide don't "crush". I luckily noticed this before I put the belly pan back on and had a stock bolt and washer. I had to drain my new oil into salad bowls and replace it, not fun.

I don't know why they don't include the stock style crush washer. They seem to think theirs works.

My car came with an ecs one installed. Similar design, same issues. They made it from aluminum and the aluminum appeared to have gotten squashed and caused a leak. Replaced it with the oem steel one. No idea why you'd want an upgraded drain plug.

Glad to hear I am not the only one. I had been using the OEM ones and decided to give it a shot for the hell of it. Looks like I will continue to use OEM ones in the future.

If it's a magnetic one it works great as a fridge magnet!

I don’t think anything is wrong with the plug bit the washer is the important part. First oil change i did on my s4 i grabbed a copper drain plug washer from work. It fit properly and seemed fine after installation.

I woke up the next morning to see about a ten inch diameter puddle of oil all around the passenger front tire. It literally filled the belly pan and was running out the side. I then tried an aluminum washer and it still leaked. Went to the dealership and got a oem washer and never leaked again.

For some reason these oil pans only like the stock style washer.

Right, but the stock style washer is incompatible with these aftermarket plugs, or at least the ecs one. They're using some other shape/size on the ecs plug.

Our cars love the crush washer version. Just make sure the surface of the pan is clean of small dirt and pebbles, clean the contact surface of the plug, and make sure the crush washer is nice and clean. no issues ever.
