    Hey guys/gals

    I have a curiosity question.

My door lock actuator on my Q5 (driver side) doesn't work. Does this cause the rest of the system to sort of not work as well? IE the car will only unlock/lock if I'm right next to it and often times it doesn't work the first time? I've replaced both batteries in the remotes hoping that would help but to no avail. I plan on ordering a new door lock actuator tomorrow because I've finally decided Im done dealing with having to manually lock the driver door and also lock the vehicle with the remote. (First world problems I know) Thanks in advance for the answers! :)

If the actuator is faulty the system should function normally, but won't beep when locking due to the actuator not locking the door. If you lock the car, then you manually lock it through the secret manual lock hole on the door, then close, the car will beep.

Distance shouldn't matter. If you have a range issue, I'd suspect and issue with the fob or with the component that receives the signal(I don't know on the B8). I haven't run into one with a range issue, it's always an actuator or 3.

On my B6 I have to literally hold the key to the roof of the car to get it to respond to the fob. I still haven't figured that one out, but I only have 1 key for it.

You'll wanna pull the door panel and check the electrical socket type on the current actuator before ordering. There are a few pin configurations throughout the years...my old 2010 Q5 was 6-pin even though parts catalogs all referenced 7-pin.

It depends on the equipment of the car

PRCode: 4F2 = Central locking system Keyless Entry
PRCode: 4I2 = Radio remote controlled central locking operated from inside without safe lock
PRCode: 4I3 = Central locking system Keyless Entry without deadlock
PRCode: 4K4 = Radio remote controlled central locking
    PRCode: A8S = Standard equipment
