Had a CEL come on for misfire on cyl 6. Just did plugs so thinking the coil. Many choices available and different price levels. Looking for suggestions on brand and if I should do just the one or do them all.

    Thanks.

If ya buy some, ive had great luck with Bosch. First set lasted 80k+ miles before 1 went out. Changed them all, now have spares.

Cel came on went to mechanic, scanned and cleared. It hasn’t come back yet. Figured it happened once it may happen again. Coils are the oem red top replacements done as a recall. Currently have 145k miles. BOSCH, NGK are similar in price, OEM AUDI and Hitachi are $70 each while the others are $25. It’s a big price difference. Why?

Yes, but is it that much of a better product than a Bosch or NGK?

Imo, no. Lots of parts you can buy aftermarket OE, from same manufacturer that makes the genuine part, for half the price. Genuine parts get that extra QC, is what some say. But for most things, OE/OEM are fine. Certain things I buy genuine only, like PCV, cuz ya can't buy OE in the aftermarket.

I think the NGK are listed as OE, since NGK plugs are OE, why not the coils too. Think I’ll go that route if it becomes necessary to replace. Best to do them all at once or just where the CEL notes fault?
