Nobody has replied but here’s an update for future generations.

I contacted a company in Durham region called Mitch insurance. Fantastic people, they told that there is basically only one company that offers insurance for modified vehicles. Here’s the pros and cons. There are certain deductibles that cannot be lowered or raised, and also when you get the insurance you have to have the car appraised. Lastly, you have to pay the first 2 months of insurance in one go.
The pros are that it wasn’t much more to get coverage for my mods. About 20$ a month and I increased my coverage to $2mil liability for 8$ a month. A much better deal all considered than I was getting at Johnson insurance.

I’ll add more updates if needed, also I forget the name of the insurance company but Mitch will facilitate. Ask for Tony, great to broker!!!

Haggerty also insures specialty cars...I had my Boxster S there.

Many companies offer "classic car" (20 or 25 + years old) with appraisals every 4-5 years. My old 944S was insured through this type ...if I recall it was a division of Intact.

Yeah Hagerty i would say is more for classic. Insurance companies are more in a mode of dropping modified vehicles rather than insuring them. Most people wouldn't dare tell their insurance company their car is modified, gives them an out clause. I would read your policy very carefully..

I reached out to Hagerty and they only do what they deem to be “classic” cars and not any sort of modified daily driver.

I’m most likely going to go with Facility association through Mitch insurance as they will insure my car with mods and I don’t have to worry about being left out to dry if I am ever at fault for an accident. Once the claims investigator finds you didn’t disclose your mods you won’t be getting shit from them

Good point...I didn't tell them that there were any "mods"...but we all know that is BS lol.

Even still...my Boxster was only $38 per month and it was insured for more than I paid for her...$2MM liability, $500 deductible, etc. Darn good deal.

But hey, if you spend a lot on mods...getting the coverage you are is very wise and worth a few extra dollars...otherwise you'd never recuperate the extra $.
