    Chronos grey for the s4

I have been thinking about a new s4 and this color might get me to make a move from my 2019. Anyone have this color yet? I think it is pretty awesome. Thoughts vs a glacier white one?

When vs white obviously this is better. Would need to see it in person in the sun....looks like there's more brown in it compared to daytona

I have one on order in Chronos grey, current timeline for delivery is December. It is replacing my 2011 Meteor Grey A4. So, basically, I'd always pick dark grey over white.

We had a Chronos/black Optic S5 at my store a couple weeks back, and it looked killer. I'm about to order a new S4 for myself, and was going to go with District Green, but seeing the Chronos in person changed my mind, and that's what I'm going with.

80% of cars in the US are black / white / grey. Get the green!

I hear you, but on this car with Black Optics, Chronos looks pretty unique. I kind of want Magma interior as well, and that wouldn't work for me with District. What I really want is Nogaro, but I'm having trouble psyching myself up to spring for A.E. paint.

My district green lands next month . Can't wait to see it. I almost bought the chronos gray. Wanted Glacier white too. After looking around. ZERO District green A4/S4's anywhere. It's a new color for 23. Which means I won't pass myself in traffic 10 times a day until 2028 . My 19 S4 is Mythos black. I see them all day long. 20220924_105531.jpg

Here at the end of the earth ( Vermont ) , only Xpel dealer in the state did my Golf R day one 70 miles on it. The film was full of dirt and crooked after 2 tries, the edges never stuck. The xpel dealer wanted to kill me for noticing they did a terrible job. Making them do it a second time, and it was just as bad. That did it for me. Needless to say . I think I'll just ruin the paint with daily use and trade it. Nobody does decent work anymore. The good enough " send it " attitude is a fucking plague in the automotive aftermarket.

There's a few good places in MA that do really good work near Audi of Peabody if that's remotely close to you. Unique care care is a go to for Rennlist for the air cooled crowd if that's any help.

I suppose I should look into it. The last time I did the PPF was approaching the cost of refinishing the front of the car. If we have to pay $2500.00 in PPF to avoid paying $2500.00 in paint work & fender blends , what have we accomplished? Once these products go below early adopter pricing .. it's a no-brainer. Audi actually makes an oem PPF front kit. My Audi dealer refuses to install it . Local Body shop said " fuck that , it's a nightmare " I mean the stink this stuff has on it in the market I live in is no accident. When an Audi dealer won't take your money,... something is wrong !

    This made me LOL.

Fortunately there was a reputable shop literally down the street from my dealership and I drove the car there with all the masking, plastic cover and wrapping sheet for them to take off followed by thorough clean, polish, ceramic coat and PPF. Sucks there's nothing in VT, might as well attempt it yourself.

Damn right!. I've simply given up. I just buy a new car every 2-4 years. I enjoy having a fixed cost . And my expectations are always met. Because. I don't expect anything but a fucking payment.

I wish that could have happened here. Good on you having a team of people who can get it done at your disposal. These jerk offs up here , all shoulders.. idk... um nah. That's too hard. Bunch of ticket scratches on probation. That's the work force up here. That's the " professional atmosphere " you can enjoy. More excuses than teeth. If I had a paint booth at my disposal , I would be giving this a try. If you don't have a clean environment. The job is doomed. The overhead in Vermont is outrageous these poor fucking guys can't make any profit with cost of doing business here. The demographic of people with disposable income is literally 1%. I criticize them out of the fact I'm a shitty person some times. But. I do understand most people wouldn't know good work if they saw it. So . Why should anyone bother , right .

I got the front nose of my S4 done, it was a ~2500 included rockers and rear wheel arches, but my car is silver and like white is a bitch to match. I am OCD about paint chips, so add that in the equation for yourself if its worth it or not. The place that did mine mentioned that the hood on these cars are difficult and usually needs to be a custom cut piece based on the size in order to wrap the edges correctly. no affiliation with the place, Darien Detail in CT. I'd try Unique in Peabody area first given the distance. If the deal went through with an S4 i was looking at, at Audi Peabody, Unique was doing the job for me already had it scheduled.

The side note that I'll tell you is, paint & materials are going through the roof so its likely it will cost more for a quality job. Which i learned getting a common issue fixed on another German marque related to the door stop pulling through the A pillar.

There is value In doing PPF if the shop has the right facility. The last time I looked into it was 2019. The local guy at the time ( since changed ) , no lift , no paint booth. The job can't be done to my standards. So. It's basically my fault for expecting great work. I also took issue with the way the kit was cut for the fenders . The entire wheel well inner lip was exposed. I, too, hate paint chips. The idea the expel kits ( at the time ) didn't wrap around, didn't stick on the bumper edges. The application was so bad that I almost scared off the person who bought my car. He thought my clear coat was full of dirt and peeling . I had to explain to him. I paid someone to do that . The guy looked at me , didn't even blink, and said, " I'm tearing that shit off " . Thanks for mentioning the place you went . I'll be investigating in the spring . I initially pursued PPF after my previous Audi S4 B8.5that was Misano Red Pearl couldn't be paint matched by the local fucking talent either. It went in for chip repair. When I picked the car up....Came out , Missano Red .. with no metallic , or pearl. This is where I live. That was the most recommended shop. This is how it goes up here. Fetal alcohol syndrome .

Darien Detail was definitely the real deal, with 4 bays, all with detailing lifts, does PPF all day long and tint. Has a guy that comes in for PDR. My new to me had a few bumps that he cared for and you'd never know anything was there. All edges are wrapped on my car where they can be, there are only 2 seams on the car on the front bumper, now way around it, but they butt up together perfectly, you'd never see them unless i showed you. When i was there was doing local PTS 2022 turbo S full car coverage and next to that car was a 1 of 1 M5 competition just picked up from the BMW dealer.

I feel your pain. for years I've had to travel hours to get proper track car maintenance up at Turner Mtrspt in MA, now in NH. We have clowns that think they can do real race car wrenching down here too. ;-). lucky me though I've found them all out first hand

It's tough out there. Allot of people that have the passion for this stuff simply don't have the training and resources. I'll never mention shop names. But it's everywhere. And holding them accountable. Makes you the bad guy. I just pay the bill and never go back at this point. A bumper seam would never bother me if it was level, butted . I'm not unrealistic. I just want clean work. I've traveled the country. Been to other markets where this stuff is being done with respect to the craft. It does exist. But . Those locations are probably going extinct with the ever devolving " ship it " fuck it , etc mentality. Once the dealership got my deposit. They were all done answering questions , . The place that did my PPF years back. Once I noticed they kinda blew it. I was the problem. It really is a "fuck you , pay me " industry. Forums like this help us all navigate through the maze. Thanks to everyone for all the input and help.
