TTRS Friction Evolution Brakes / Group Buy

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey AZ / fellow TTRS owners.

Nemesis has the opportunity to promote Friction Evolution Brakes, with the option of a Group Buy. FE already has RS3 2 piece rotors available, but needs AT LEAST 10 confirmed orders in order to get TTRS in the works.

Wanted to gauge interest to see if this was something that could be viable amongst the community.

Below are talking points from the RS3 brakes with TTRS being similar.

Friction Evolution brake discs are direct OEM replacement.

    -2 piece construction

-72 curved directional vanes for enhanced cooling and performance

-Aluminum hat constructed with US material 6061-T6 and hard anodized for looks and longevity

-Rotor ring made from proprietary US metallurgy formula of high carbon and gray iron casted in the US

-Gold zinc anti-corrosion coating for longevity and looks

-Dimple pattern for style and performance

-Floating D-Bobbin hardware with anti-noise spring washers allows for rotor ring expansion

-Friction Evolution disc weight: 22.0lbs vs Audi Genuine 28.6lbs

Lead time to be made would be 4-6 weeks. All USA made.

MSRP for fronts $1050 and $875 for rears. Of course if 10 people commit, group buy pricing would be much less.

Please comment below if this is something you'd be interested in getting produced so I can let Friction Evolution know to either produce or just stick with RS3.

Interested at potential GB price if they compare well to 034 rotors.

Thank you for hosting this Miranda

We are very pleased with the foundry we have chosen to build our rings. Our partnered foundry brings over a decade of experience producing high performance brake discs in the USA. We are also using a proprietary metallurgy that has been track proven. Our discs are meant to perform on the track, but also add a little bling for the street.

Sounds pretty good. If I didn't already have Girodisc, I'd consider these. Some additional data points may help to drive home the value added of these rotors, however.

How much is it to replace just the rotor once they're worn?

How is heat dissipation? What kind of venting do you use?

What stress tests have you placed these rotors under?

What pads do you recommend for your rotors for street or track use?

What is the predicted wear life for street usage?

Thanks for the feedback—will get these added with answers.

    $800 per set with hardware

How is heat dissipation? What kind of venting do you use?
This disc will be 72 directional curved vanes. Compared to the factory discs, directional vane left/right specific allows for equally better cooling

What stress tests have you placed these rotors under?
This rotor design and metallurgy has seen temps exceeding 1500* centigrade at the track with no disc related failures. The tooling that our discs are made from are well maintained. Based on an internal study, our USA built castings are a lot cleaner compared to the discs from overseas

What pads do you recommend for your rotors for street or track use?
We have had good results with the Ferodo DS2500 for street/spirited driving (may cause minor noise) and DS1.11 for track only (will make noise) There are still plenty of other great brands that we would like to test, but we haven't had a chance yet

What is the predicted wear life for street usage?
This is a tough question to answer since its dependent on your driving style and pad choice.

    Thanks

are FL TT-RS still affected by the mono-directional vanes issue? I thought it has been solved!

    Nope, same thing
    Even after 3 revisions
    (Thats 8v/8s - Rs3/TT-RS *passenger rotor specifically*)

Found out recently that mk8 Golf R is the same. 8Y im curious if they fixed, but lets be honest, given their track record since the MK2 Rs3 and TT - doubt it

I was quite sure to having red somewhere they had solved the issue starting from the RS3 8V facelift and thought applied the same counter measure on the TT facelift, shame if they still didn't fix the issue on a 80K car
