    Noise reduction C7 A6

    Hey guys,

I had a huge spill in my trunk. As a result, back seat, trunk floor, side panels, stock insulation and prior aftermarket dampening (Dynamat Extreme) have been removed.

I started replace noise reduction material first with Dynamat Extreme in the tub of the trunk on “sides” as well as on the wheel wells of the rear end and the rear of the tub.

I have ordered (2) packages of SoundSkins which I’ve used in my doors and speaker deck. I love this stuff as it seems to deepen speaker sound, stop rattles and generally reduce road noise. I have (1) package of Luxury Liner Pro and another 20 or so square feet of Dynamat Extreme (yes, I previously over purchased, but planned to do my wife’s Q and she said don’t bother).

my thought is the using the luxury line pro (MLV and foam) on the top portion of trunk floor, and Dynamat under Sound Skins on remainder of wheel wells and under rear seat will quiet tire noise.

I don’t need perfection, but since I’m in there I’d like to quiet rear wheel/tire noise.

    Comments????

Current situation. Another few hours of cleaning and I’ll be ready to lay down the next step in trunk.

My thought was LLP on “floor” up top and double layer of Dynamat and Sound Skins on the side of wheel wells. Bottom of tub will get Dynamat Extreme. It’s buried so deep and seems to work fine in that roll..

    Wow.

That is a lot of sound deadening.

Audi interiors are already quite muted in factory setup, and I understand that you added material before your recent incident. In my experience, it's difficult to improve upon an already sophisticatedly sound-deadened environment in terms of reducing road/wind noise. What it can do, though, is improve signal-to-noise ratios for audio systems.
