Suspension PING Sound Mystery

Ok, I need some help trying to figure this one out. Every time I press the brake pedal at low speed I get this loud metal ping/click sound from all 4 wheel wells, front followed by rear. It sounds like 2 pieces of metal smacking each other which is why I thought it was the pads hitting the rotor but... it makes the same exact sound as I start moving forward and let the clutch out sometimes too. I've checked every bolt and bushing and don't see anything wrong. I'm out of ideas, anyone heard this sound before? It's really embarrassing moving thru parking lots and every single time I hit the pedal, PING.

Someone has to have experienced that. I thought it might be the pads as well (which you mentioned) but definitely not that. Our Q7 pads make a noise but only on the first stop and much less pronounced than that.

I'd have someone stand outside and crouch down while you pull on to hear exactly where the sound is coming from. If I had to guess I'd double check the anti rattle retaining clips in the caliber housing and check how the pads are seated.
