485 Designs Titanium Exhaust for the TT RS and RS3

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi folks, just wanted to share some unsolicited feedback and some pictures provided by Nick Mercer, owner of 485 Designs in Denver, Co (info@485designs.net). You should know, our discussions have been the most patient, responsive and thorough I have seen in ages for a custom parts vendor. He replied to my email inquiry immediately with pictures, tons of detail, etc and listened to all my questions. Highly recommended to give him a shout. Not all TT RS parts pictures are up on the website fyi yet, but you can see RS3 pricing etc. I posted a few pictures here that he provided of the TT RS system.

Looks and sounds cool. Did you happen to find out what actuator servos are being used? In talking with custom exhaust folks, this is the most common point of failure. Hopefully they used the VAG OEM units for reliability like Milltek.

what a beautiful exhaust, might be the best sounding exhaust Ive heard for the platform yet, smooth, deep, removes the tiney sound. At 26.4lb, anyone know what the stocker weighs of the top of their head?

Sounds great, really happy with the AWE though which saves quite a bit of weight.

Ti, valved, resonated price is on par with BoostLogic, cool. Watching the vid, the sound is more dB friendly, not as farty and won't wake the LEO, super cool.

Is there any drone at cruising speeds of 60-80? WOT sounded awesome. With catted DP, mid pipes and stock muffler (valves open) there can be a tiny bit of drone on cruise on a light load going up a hill, that's totally acceptable. Close the valves, gone.

Weight savings and a tamer exhaust note, excellent.

Not sure, email him and ask. He may be doing a custom stainless setup for me with some Corsa RSC mufflers, no valves, etc in the back. No drone, all flow all the time.

Glad to see our exhaust made it's way over here. I am happy to answer any questions/concerns. Everything is made here in Denver, CO and quality is what we're shooting for. More content will be up on Youtube soon with a TTRS, as well as variations between stainless/Ti, valved/non valved.

I have a 2019 TT RS, would love to see/hear a clip of freeway (60-80MPH) speeds, valves open and closed. Kudos on designing another Ti exhaust!

Glad I found this exhaust. Coincidentally I found your IG maybe 12 hours before I saw this thread and have now changed my preference from BoostLogic’s product to yours. Can’t wait to place an order.

Could it be possible to spec blued tips instead of black? (more street cred points :)

I've been following Nick on IG for quite some time and have been incredibly impressed with his fab skills. I am extremely particular with aftermarket parts, and was a bit annoyed with my Milltek. Nick will definitely get my business on whatever the next car is, even if I have to drive it out for a custom job.

    Hey everyone,

I'm local to Colorado and am happy I found Nick. He actually reached out to me when I was in the market for a Ti Exhaust for my 2019 TTRS. Instead of listening to him I bought a BoostLogic valved exhaust. Worst decision I could've done. I was sent the incorrect mounting hardware and fitment issues were present everywhere. I reached out to Nick and he welcomed me to his shop where he made some changes to try and help with fitment. Long story short I filed a complaint with PayPal and proved my case resulting in a full refund. Nick and 485 Designs returned my exhaust to BoostLogic.

Now my car sits on the rack at 485 getting the titanium treatment. I will post pictures and video recordings once completed. As for 485 I've had nothing but great experiences with them.

Just ordered a valved version for BF =)

The 69 pound stock exhaust does not include the DP. I've got the 034 DP, it might be only a few pounds lighter than stock. Along with the sweet Antigravity battery, there's a tasty 80 pounds removed. 18" 034 rims, 034 rotors (F/R), Conti 275/35s - I should be near 3200lbs with full interior. Looking at the Automotive Passion rear brace/seat delete option after the full aero kit goes on.

You're going the same route I am! Wheels/tires/CCBs are 98lbs off the car once I get the rear rotors installed, which is 3220ish lbs. Next on my list is the AP rear seat delete (carpeted) and then I may consider doing some MComposit panels (hood and rear trunk lid) along with Recaro Podiums. The Podiums and AP rear seat delete are another 120+ lbs off, which would put me solidly in the bottom 3100's.

Right on! The AP kit will be it for me on weight, might get the Essex brakes if I can't find a pad I'm happy with on the stock calipers (529 Innovations 1521 pads are coming). For me, losing static and especially unsprung weight the is the ticket, livens things up. More like a using a Katana vs a boozka =)
