    Stop Sale on A6/A7 C8?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey everyone.

Took my car in for the 40K service over the weekend and chatting with the sales manager he told me the dealerships were stop selling the A6/A7 and if i recall correctly Q7/Q8 due to a fuel sender sensor issue. Not sure if he was infering to new or cpo models.

Wondering if anyone else has encountered any service or recall experience on the matter. I just picked up my A6 a few months ago preowned, and i found it shocking that he told me Audi wont even have the part here in the states to remedy recalls into next year

The dealer in the interim inspected the part for any leaks, and told me it appeared ok.

Not to concern anyone or if its old news, forgive me. Today i took in the car for suspension and a APR tune at a dedicated European Indy shop , and when they ran diagnostics the tech left me notes: "Passive sporatic low fuel pressure code further diag would be necessary if code becomes active."

So i thought it was perhaps a good topic of discussion or a heads up to keep in mind your mileage between fills in relation to your fuel meter.

I purchased my 2019 A7 a few monthsback and that recall is a known issue and im also shocked of no remedy at this time. I was told by my sales associate that ive dealt with for a long time is a 50/50 if you were to be really affected by it. His advice was not to let it go to empty since it may not be as accurate as to what the gauge depicts. Ive also heard that if your getting a gas level your ok because if you had an issue it wouldnt even show a level. Again im going by hearsay on this topic so if anyone has more concrete evidence to exactly what the issues are associated with this recall. Please love to hear your 2 cents. Definitely a good topic to bring up.

The 2020 S7 I just traded is in the recall group. The dealer told me that he will start driving that car as it is on stop sell due to this recall. I had the car for 2 years without any issue, so I think it is silly that they can't sell a car that is know to not have the issue.

My local dealer has an RS7 in the showroom that is effectively a brick (not because of the function of the car, but because Audi will not let them sell it). They have been told they “might” receive the part in Q4 2022.

I keep getting recall notices from Audi and the dealer I service at about this one on my RS6. SUPER IMPORTANT BRING IT IN FOR REPAIRS! SAFETY ISSUE! Only there is no currently available repair for it which is kinda funny and sad at the same time. Crazy they stopped selling the cars now, though. Another kick in the D if you've been waiting forever for an RS6 or RS7.

I haven't seemed to run into this issue but I keep tabs on miles per tank and if I was at 250 miles to the tank with fuel gauge showing as half or more I would know something is off. RS6 is lucky to get 300 miles of highway driving to 1/4th tank remaining. Non-stop city driving all week in heavy traffic I have seen 150 miles to the 1/4th mark.

As far as I know, this only applies to used models.

The fuel sensor may get stuck in a certain position due to some mechanical issues (it is too close to a vent pipe and may interfere with it). It was fixed for all models in Feb.2021, but they do recall for all of them anyway. If there is a real issue, the rear seat should be removed, and there is an access to the sensor. it could be corrected like a little grind/bended, so won't interfere with anything. Obviously, nobody will do it if there is an official recall, but unofficially a good mechanic can take care of this problem in no time.

I had this problem before the recall was announced, and they repaired it by opening the tank and securing the vent tube with a nylon tie to avoid hitting the sender float. The recall says some of the floats are out of spec causing the interference with the vent tube. Hopefully the nylon tie holds up in gas.

In my case the car would not go below 1/2 tank, then all of a sudden drop to 1/8th (lucky in my case it would drop). I don't put a lot of miles on my car so going a few weeks on 1 tank is not uncommon, so it was hard to keep track of it. After noticing it I would top off at 1/2 tank until they fixed it.

See link below there is more info in that link (see post 15 for recall) and others with the problem. I guess instead of fixing the cars on the road they are prioritizing those parts for new cars, which is why the sender hasn't been shipped here for the recalled cars.

If someone has this issue, they should make the dealer do the temp fix, in my opinion.

I just bought my 2019 A6 in July. CarFax showed an open recall, when I went through the link on the NHTSA website, it comes back with this fuel sender sensor recall but states no fix available. Crazy.

I confirmed with service at dealer today still no fix available and to ignore the scary emails. Suggested I check in periodically on it.

I heard about that recall but I can't seem to see any stop sale. The new models are coming in and the dealerships are still selling them. Do you know if this affects the A6 Allroad too?
