    Hi all,
I am new to the Audi world; I just got a 2022 Audi q5 pp the 261hp engine. Thinking about doing a DIY oil change soon. Can someone give me a full guide on what parts I needed for oil change? Under the hood, I see vw508 & 0w20. I have done some research about vw508, it looks like Mobil 1 esp x2 0w-20 is the OE oil if I’m not mistaken? Or which oil I should use? What is the oil refill capacity for this car? Where and which oil filter to get?

It looks like the oil drain plug needs to be changed every time? And does the oil filter gasket ring need to be changed every time or does the filter come with it? Is it true that if I use an oil pump to suck out all the oils I don’t need to touch the drain plug at all? Will the pump suck out all the oils?

Sorry, I have only done oil changes to Asian cars.

Edit: just went on ecs website and I type in Audi q5 b9 its showing 5w30 for the oil????

Just look for an oil change kit for your car at any of these sites:

    shopdap.com
    fcpeuro.com
    ecstuning.com

The new oil filter housing gasket comes with the oil filter.

Drain plugs are one-time use. You don’t need to buy a new one if you don’t remove the existing one.

Oil extractors, if used properly, leave very little old oil in the pan.

Read the oil spec label in your engine bay. I guarantee it has a european oil spec requirement. That generic Castrol Edge you linked doesn't meet any of the euro oil spec requirements.

For example, my SQ5 requires 0W-20 that meets 508.00 spec.

My wife's Golf R has an E888 engine (same engine family as the Q5) and it requires 5W-40 with a euro spec of 502.00.

If it meets 508/509 it will clearly show on the label:

If your car isn't under warranty no big deal but if it is you are putting your engine warranty in jeopardy.

5.5L is super wrong [Edit: For an SQ5.... forgot this was a Q5 question thread.]

I just pulled out nearly 7L with an extractor. Fun fact: FCP Euros service kit only has 6L in it. Articles online say 7.25L for max fill with filter. I just trusted FCP put in the box what I needed. Waiting for their service department call back now to see how they'll solve it. I am at the very minimum mark currently.

That's because you have a 3.0t and he, according to his profile, has a 2.0t...

Valid. In my haste to try and find solutions for my current problem I forgot this is a Q5 oil change thread question.

FCP Euro called back and stated that because the extractor is too good at getting oil out they take too much out for their kits that are packaged to be drained traditionally which uses the Audi called for 6L. YMMV

agree on the oil.. Not sure if that kit from ECS is actually updated, as the oil drain plug on newer B9/B9.5 is a plastic one. Updated my link above to FCP euro kit.

Did my first oil change on '18 SQ5 3.0T using the oil extract method and ecs tuning oil and filter replacement kit. The only issue I had was that I needed to move the extract tube around a little or use the smaller diameter tube. It took twice as long because I must have placed the tube too far down the dipstick tube because I only pulled 2L even after braking the seal (loosen the oil filter housing) on the oil filter. I eventually pulled the extract tube in and out of the dipstick tube and was able to remove approximately 6.7L and used about 7.6L back into the engine.

I would recommend this approach since it is much faster, quicker and cleaner. Guys at the nearest Autozone were even happy to drain the oil for me using the MityVac extractor since it is also fast and easy to drain into their recycling container.

I did my first oil & filter change yesterday using my MityVac extractor using the small diameter tubing. I was able to easily feel when the tube reached the bottom of the pan. Since this was my first change I thought it to be wise to mark the extractor where it was full. What I thought was strange was that when I measured what I took out it was slightly over 8 quarts. The MMI oil level showed full and OK. I refilled with the suggested 7.7 quarts and will do a check with the MMI and my dipstick after a drive tomorrow. I will report if I find the readings abnormal.

It seems these Audi's often "gain" fluid in the sump between oil changes. Apparently, short trips and incomplete warmups can contribute to fuel dilution.

Will be interesting to see how much oil you extract the next time you do an oil change. I'm assuming you didn't top off oil at some point before this last oil change.

Just changed mine and pulled about 7.6q out through the dip stick tube.

The car is essentially brand new. The MMI level was what it was when I took delivery and remained so until I drained the oil. I never added any oil and the car had 1,650 miles on it when I changed the oil and filter. I am old school and have always done my first oil change at 1,000 miles, but this time I needed to wait until I received my dipstick. Coolant level never changed and the car certainly doesn't have enough miles to accumulate unburned fuel to add that much. Either the factory put in that amount or the dealer dudes that prepped the car did. I have brought the level up to 7.7 quarts and driven about 200 miles since. The MMI shows about 1/8 or a little less than full and unfortunately the oil is so clean that I can't get a good read on the stick.

Last time I bought oil for my 2020 2.0 @ my dealer the cost was only $7/qt. 0/20. No big deal.

This week I bought the Mityvac 7300 pneumatic extractor and going to give the extraction method oil change a try, been draining the pain by removing drain bolt for 40 years and decided I'm getting too old to crawl under the car anymore.
The one question I have is what psi do you set the compressor at?
Any other tips/suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a similar model which can do both and honestly it's so easy to just hand pump. A few pumps and it starts a few more half way and it finishes. Less than 20 all in I bet. Just make sure the oil is pretty warm.

Other suggestions: refill with the right amount and drive it a minute or two and park somewhere level before you use MMI to check cause it wont be accurate right off the bat. The filter cap you can feel bottom out and shouldn't need to stress about the torque too much. The dip stick plug was hard on mine cause it was brand new and bone dry I used a zip tie in the eyelet and really had to wiggle and work it out. I put a drop of oil on the o rings after replacing it and it seemed better.

Thanks for your input, since mine is pneumatic only I’ll start out with compressor outlet set at 20 psi and see how it goes

    oil change help

Did the oil change this morning and it went well, the MityVac extracted 7L and the electronic gauge was 2 blocks down before draining so I would say it got 99% of old oil out of pan.
So much easier this way, the MityVac is worth what it costs for sure if you DIY your own oil changes.
Used the LiquiMoly 0w20 VW spec oil which does well in my car, minimum if any oil burn off over 6K OCI
The 2 blocks down on electronic gauge was oil used at Audi dealership that did the last oil change
