    Eurocode Sway Bar Failures still?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Morning All!

Looking to drop dime on a set of sway bars for the S6. I can't find a lot of "sets" (F/R) for her. The one that keeps popping up is the Eurocode USS set. Looks to be a nice set with good value, but there is a lot of chatter (albeit a bit old) about them cracking regularly. Many pics and reports of it.

    https://www.ecodetuning.com/ec0202-0...ab-description

Granted these are generally from a time measured in years, but I'm wondering if this is still an ongoing issue before diving in! Doesn't look like the product changed, but I'm working with very few pics.

Appreciate the input and options if there are any sets (F/R) in the same price range!

    Cheers,

    KS

The main alternative for a set is H&R, $700 at Tire Rack (an AZ sponsor) and others. The part number is 72092 for the set.

Don't quote me but if not mistaken it was mostly install issues (bolted under torque with car on lift...puts extra preload on car when on ground)..but again i could be wrong!

Im running them with the ECS Adjustable Front Endlinks and 034 Adjustable Rear Endlinks.

I have a slight clicking sound from the front, but I feel thats more due to the tightness of the link to bar vs them binding.

Not to mention, on the hard setting, I have a hell of a time getting the car to turn in properly. Im fighting a flat plane all the way through, so take that for what you will

That's a excellent point to consider on a daily street car where you can't grab the optimal apex for that level of tightness! The Sport diff sure doesn't help I bet! How's the soft setting feel?

I presume no issues other than that? Length of time on car??

    Thanks!

Wow... I was not aware that they made S's without a Sport Diff. Seems contradictory. I was under the impression that it was a std for this model (was in 2014) across all years but not so. Apparently removed about 2015 and moved into the Sports Pkg. Never looked deep into the MY past my 2014.

    Sorry!

I've had my Eurocode sways on my A6 for near 3 years of very spirited daily driving and they look near brand new. No issues. Install them correctly and they will last forever.

This is why 034 only offers a rear sway bar. A stiff front bar will make the front push more.

I am swapping my Eurocode rear sway with the H&R as I had nothing but trouble with it. This is on the SOFT setting with ZERO track use.
Always breaking endlinks so I will swap it out and sell it here soon, real cheap.

I have the front and rear EC Sway bars on full hard, rip on the car constantly, and have had no issues over the past years.

I'm still using the same EC sway bars I installed like 5 years ago. No issues. Stiff setting in the rear, soft setting in the front, OEM end links. It feels great.

I am thinking that there may have been an issue with their quality at some point, but that like anything, the "loose nut behind the wheel" is always a major contributor to any problem. The many good reports def out weighed the bads.

I am also of the thought that they changed something, since the page described how all rear bars were supplied with an adapter kit that you needed when using stock links. I was disappointed when I opened the box and nothing but the bar was in there, but after installing it, found nothing was needed and it fit perfectly.

I got it because after an alignment (first month of ownership) found that the thrust angle was WAY out of whack and camber was off on most every corner. After driving it away, the car that had been very tight and darty, was now willowy, sluggish and no longer as crisp as it had been. I am thinking that the alignment had been preloading the suspension and tires and now it was neutral again.

A little research and found that sway bars are the primary go to for our cars.

After installing the rear on the soft setting, I find it does correct about 75% of the willowy feeling. A good start. I'll swap to the hard setting and then see where I want to go from there. It's still very predictable... I just need it a bit tighter.

It's not race car tight like it was before, but it's also not going to eat tires like it was! Good Trade!

    Cheers,

    KS

Had the Eurocode sways on several cars (S5, S6) and both were completely transformed by them (soft front, firm rear). I used the stock links professionally installed at top tuner shops, drove the cars very spirited every skngle day (never tracked though), and never had any issue at all with them. 10/10 recommend, easily the best $/driving experience value mod I ever did.
