    Why bother with an RSQ8?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Why not get an SQ7/SQ8 with a sport package? Would have plenty of money left over for a stage three tune and turbo upgrade to 800 plus hp and the wheels/tires that you want.
It would kick a stock RSs ass.
The engine is exactly the same.
The SQ7 is roomier for dogs....pick one up for 85k....put up to 40k in the car in mods....have a FAR superior car to the RSQ8

The RSQ8 prices make zero sense.

Resale, Warranty and badge exclusivity. Those are just the ones I can think of. Granted short of winning the lotto I'd never be in the market for and RS model but those would be important to me.
Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.

Because dumb people will pay for it and the profits help Audi continue to develop their fun models like the... uh... I'm at a loss. Audi has jumped the shark.

I like them too....BUT....when they are just the same motor components and you can add the same options on an sq....then how "special" is it?
Special from dropping a big sum??
You can take an sq and do the mods and get a car far superior in performance to the R and Cayenne Turbo GT for that matter :)

    Why bother with an RSQ8?

Ok I have an SQ8 with Sport, and I agree it’s an incredible value, but even just off the top of my head there are some material things you get for the RS price that would actually be more expensive to do to an SQ8:

    - brakes.. even the steel ones are 10 pot on the RS, and then there’s the ceramic option

    - body kit.. matter of taste if you like it, but differences are front and rear bumpers, side skirts, wheel arches, and hatch visor. There seems to be better flow to intercoolers on the RS front

    - wheels/tires.. you get 23x10.5 out of the gate instead of 22x10

    - full warranty and smog legality at 600hp

    - tachometer on your HUD

    - true launch control

    - full leather all the way up on the door panels

    - additional RS drive select options and selector switch

    - different interior color/trim options

Keep in mind if you have a Sport Pkg SQ8 you also have Prestige by default — along with black optic, tow pkg, etc my sticker was ~$110k. To get all of the RS-specific things retrofitted onto my SQ8 would be much more than the difference in sticker price to a similarly equipped RSQ8 (~$125k). Whether the differences matter to you is a personal thing, but I don’t think the RS is a waste of money.

P.S. I just checked the website, the cheapest you are getting an SQ7 with Sport Package is $102k. This is why it’s actually a rare option on dealer lots.

Good god we aren’t 18 and this isn’t a Subaru … Your ridiculous argument can be made for any car…with that math you have spent more than an rs, get less and have an unreliable pos without a warranty.

    "We aren't 18"

Some of us at 65 are still motorheads 🤡

But False...as most of the time when you buy the high hp "R" model of other brands you get at least a few different components.
Witness the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT.

Looking at RSQ8s and seeing 30k+ markups over MSRP on USED cars makes the SQ8 or SQ7 for that matter with a sport package a super deal as you could put 1/2 the money you save to choose the exact components you want.
If it were truly distinct mechanically then yeah.... you couldn't do it.

That's fine if you are into "stock" cars and live by a warranty....however many tuners offer warranties and many of us like to tinker with the performance of a twin turbo in any platform.
I had a nice built Nissan GTR running E-85...changed injectors and fuel pump clutch baskets and did a tune....never dynoed but I'd guess around 750-800 hp. Stock turbos.
    Unreliable POS?? Hardly
Stronger transmission and more reliable from the high octane of E-85

Thankfully not everyone is as boring as you...there is a market for big hp SUVs

I'd take this "unreliable POS" in a heartbeat

    Cheers🍻

    Nice SQ8 with s package.
I'm giving this market a few months and find a smokin' deal on a used one .

Looks alone is enough to justify the RS model! The SQ8 front end looks like it’s wearing braces. If anyone has a viable option to swap the RS bumper (not just grillle), let me know and I might change my search criteria….

In early 2021 when I was shopping, the S Sport was a hard requirement for me, along with black optic. With this criteria there were only a handful nationwide to choose from. When I decided I wanted a color besides grey/black/white, the list became VERY short, like a dozen of them.

What I’m getting it is I don’t think there are actually that many SQ8’s that got spec’d with S Sport. You can tell right away from the red calipers (at least for MY21 models, can’t speak to newer ones). Not sure how the used market will treat these, maybe in the future people will forget that this was a $6k option. *shrug

Oh they are definitely kind of rare....you have a great car!!
I'm keeping an eye on the RSQs as well as I think in the future msrp will soon be the norm.
I guess my ultimate sleeper car would be an SQ7 with the MTM 1000 hp setup they do on the RSQ8
I do like the room for the dogs in the back of my wife's SQ7....she would kill me if I started modding her dd.

Having owned a very modded C7 S6 and several modded cars prior to my RSQ8, I rather enjoy a car that's already mostly built from factory with everything I want. Dealing with maintenance and broken stuff that comes along with tinkering/modding, there's something to be said about driving something that just works and feels solid from the factory. Piece of mind is something that can't be measured.

Maybe it's my older age (42) that has me wanting something I don't have to constantly worry about breaking. Having said that, I'll most likely do some light mods a year after ownership. Lol

Here's some pics of my very 'unreasonably' priced RS.

    Nice car!!
But still not much different than an sq8.

Here's our SQ7 with a flat black wrap.
    22 inch blaque diamond wheels.
    All for 82k

Easy tune and exhaust change will give around 700hp on 91oct.
I like the room in the 7 for the dogs.
