AWE Switchpath Exhaust: Valves No Longer Respond - Any Help?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello everyone. My B9 (2018) S4 has the AWE Switchpath exhaust with (2) FOB/remotes to open/close the valves. Suddenly, I find the exhaust is stuck "closed" and no longer opens the valves. Has anyone come across this? What would be a good place to start diagnosing this? I've confirmed the batteries in the AWE remotes are good.

    Thank you.

EDIT: Fault codes using OBDEleven are:

    Exhaust Pressure Control Valve "A" - P049F00
    Exhaust Pressure Control Valve "B" - P047500

I believe I get those same codes and mine are not stuck closed. I think they’re just soft valve codes.

Try clearing those and see what happens

Thank you, Sara. In the past, I've tried reaching out to your team, but I've been turned down because I am the second owner of the system. I would just like to know which component has failed so that I can buy the replacement (from your company, if applicable). Please let me know if you can assist.

It is def. good to know if spare parts are available. Have been looking to replace my x-pipe (just too much drone) and wanted something that kept switch path. Being able to service it definitely makes a difference!

Mine got stuck and I ended up lubing the valves and adding small pressure to loosen the flaps. It’s been fine since then and that happened over a year ago. It got stuck after I full throttled with the valves closed during a long 100+mile drive one day, all highway. A little bit of wd40 did the trick.

Apologies that you were turned down! It is true that your system does not qualify for a warranty, but that does not mean we can't assist in other ways. DMing to grab your info and get you in touch with one of our specialists.

ive had my valves do a couple weird things (im also a second owner, and ive ran this same exhaust for over 2 years now)..

    1. sometimes my FOB doesnt respond until ive had the car running and its actively driving on the road (that shouldnt be a factor but it does happen)
    2. sometimes the flaps open/close a bunch before settling to the open position.
    3. sometimes only the right side flap starts to open/close when im idling, not sure why.

Ive found that unplugging the flaps and then re-plugging them in seems to help. But thats all ive tried this far.

What I meant is, in the past, I've been asked for a serial number right off the bat. Where does one find said information? Is it on a welded plaque somewhere along the exhaust piping? All I seek is the troubleshooting knowledge to diagnose the problem myself. If I need to purchase a replacement module/valve motor, so be it. Look forward to hearing from someone, thank you.

Sure thing, the serial number is on a metal plaque on the drivers side rear piping. Can usually be found by glancing underneath the rear of the car.

Got your info via PM, I will get you in touch with a specialist that can assist you.
