Anyone Else Get An Offer From Audi To Buy Back Your RS5?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was just contacted by the dealer I bought my car from. They offered me 73K for it. The sticker was 85K and they gave me 2k off, making my purchase price 83k. I have to admit, it is a bit tempting. Did anyone else get a similar offer? Does that seem like a fair offer?

That's hilariously low - 2021 pending miles are still worth 80k+

The most recent offer I had for my 2019 Sportback was earlier this year for $15K above my purchase price.

Yeah man if they aren't offering at least what you paid for it (in this market), it's a pretty lousy offer.

Exactly. You know the dealer is going to charge MSRP + a few points.

As someone who has been shopping used 2021s, don’t take $73k. Without knowing anything about how you spec’d yours, I don’t see anything below $83k

Wow, I guess I had my head stuck back in the old days. As I recall, it was ordered with DRC, Black Optics Package, Sport Exhaust and Blind Spot Monitors. I think total MSRP of 85K. I would have to check the original window sticker to be sure, but I know it had those options. Now, with 18k miles. I could not walk away from an offer of 85K.
    Thanks guys!!

I received a form email in May from the dealer offering up to 80k, 2021 less than 5k miles at the time. I bet once you get into the details, it's not a cash offer. Probably trade in.

Anyone Else Get An Offer From Audi To Buy Back Your RS5?

KBB shows my 2019 Coupe 89k msrp is ranging from 70-74k on trade and up to 77k for private sale. I bought it for 67k new 2 years ago. Though I have some dealers low balling me at 66 or 65k. Problem is whatever you swap it to it will be overpriced too.

I got my RS5 because of a similar offer from the dealer on my 2018 S4, but I barely broke even on the remainder of the S4 loan. Not a good deal, but i wanted the RS5.

This was my issue with my dealer’s offer too. If I could have purchased a new RS5 with the same options on my current car for the same price I paid for mine, I would have taken them up on the offer; even with the extended order time. However, the price of the new RS5 they wanted to sell me was almost the same as what they were going to give me for the trade. If they had the new car on the lot and ready to go I would have seriously considered it. However, ending up with a net gain of $2,000 and having to wait 8 months for a new car, without a guarantee that it’ll have all the options I want, wasn’t worth it to me.

Yeah this is the dilemma. I think the market will adjust soon, but then your trade will love value. You could sell high and wait it out. But I prefer to trade on a new car to get the tax savings…

I love the car and ordinarily would not even consider the offer. However, I desperately want more power. I really think Audi screwed up by not keeping up with the M3/4. I know this has been discussed MANY times on other threads and that the RS5 is much more refined, but Audi should have re-tuned this car. If I could have gotten 85k for it, I would have added another 25k and gotten the M5 and been done with it.

The only thing that stopped me from moving forward is what you see is "on order" in my signature. I'm right there with you though. Thankfully the C8 Z06 will make up the difference.

LOL - Now, that car will be a lot of fun. However, I am too old for such a car and need something more "age appropriate". :)

Too old for a Vette?? I think it's a prerequisite to be pulling your 401k to own one.

Too old for a Vette? LOL! Do you know that a majority of Vette owners are on the older side?

LOL- Yes, I got one for my 50th birthday. Then, moved to a Hellcat and that' when it hit me. I need a high-performance German luxury car. Unfortunately, not knowing any better, I went with the RS5 thinking it would be very easy to boost power and get big gains with a twin turbo. Turns out, not so easy. :) I went back and forth between the RS5 and the M5 for months. To me, the RS5 had the looks and the M5 had the power. I figured I can add power, so I went with the RS5. Either way, my Vette days are behind me.

Preach it, brother! I had no idea about the weak aftermarket until after I purchased the RS5. It's all my fault though because I should've performed more research. :) I have to admit the RS5 is an amazing daily though. Hence why I'll only make a few minor tweaks moving forward to optimize the daily driving experience... Meth injection being one of those tweaks. Installing a dual nozzle setup for the extra octane and will run the 93 OCT tune until maybe, just maybe I can tune on my own. For the meth naysayers out there, if you manage it properly, you will never experience problems. :)

I just got an email from my dealer this morning offering to buy my RS5 SB for "115% of [my] purchase price" with the caveat that to get the 115% I'd have to buy the new car from them too.

That’s one of the reasons why I wouldn’t do it. I have to turn over my car when I sign the papers for the new car and then wait 8 - 10 months for the new car that may or may not have all the options I want.

I suppose this would not appeal to too many folks. However, if you are in the market for a new Audi, have a spare vehicle and are in no rush for the new car, it really is a good deal.

That's why I haven't accepted any dealer buy back offers. They want my car right away and I have to pay full MSRP for the new car. If they were willing to sell me a new car for the price they sold me my new 2019 RS5 a couple of years ago, I do it; even knowing I have to wait 8 - 12 months for a new car.

Yeah so I got an offer for about 5k more than I bought it about 6 months back. However, I’m trying to maximize the tax on trade in and most places by me are even marking up S cars in premium trim with cloth seats lol. I’ve decided I am not going to give these guys any of my business going forward for price gouging.

Last dealer I checked in with on an RS3 wanted 15k over msrp. I was like which bank is covering such an upside down loan. Car gets totaled and you’re 20-25k in the hole. Supposedly most banks have stopped financing over msrp except for Audi financial…

Yeah, I have decided to keep my car and to work on the one "flaw" it has. Lack of power. I am just going to the next level of tune and see if that satisfies me.
