Cam bridge will not seat onto cams. Anyone seen this?

Installed a new intake cam and the bridge will not seat onto the cams. I've measured where the cam goes into the bore of the bridge and it's exactly the same (.944") on the old cam. Tried another spare bridge. Same thing; it's like the cams are two far from each other.

    Anyone ran into this?

Nevermind. Rolled the engine over a few times, and carefully and ever so gently was able to tap the bridge on. Once it started, it slid on like normal.

Yeah the cam bridge was a pain in the ass for us when doing timing chains. We thought we did something wrong. For those wondering what worked for us was taking an opened end wrench (I think it was a 16 and 14, don't quote me) and slightly rocking the intake/exhaust cam slightly. Cam bridge is a tight fit so while I did this my grandfather made sure to apply even pressure on both the intake and exhaust side of the cam and it slid on. Took about 30 mins for this stupid piece.

Yup. They're always tight but this was the first one that had me cussing. For me, it's always been jiggle the shit out of it till it finds center and slides home. I'll keep that in mind next time with the wrenches.

Just started her up, hopefully be done with this cam timing fault.

I found it best to put a wrench on the crank and just have somone gently rock it back and forth while you work it on. Pops on in 5-10 seconds..

Yep 18mm open sided combo wrench on the intake cam behind the sprocket to rock the intake slightly this will allow the bridge to center itself and you’ll be able work it on. However, recommend to add slight layer of assembly grease on the cam snouts before applying and make sure to check the oil screen not sure if you removed it or not, a lot of debate on in or out with that screen, I’ve never had an issue with this screen. If rocking the intake isn’t working trying to bump exhaust cam with a counter hold tool on the sprocket, or you can use 90° needle nose pliers in the sprocket holes, only problem is it takes two hands and you can’t push on the bridge, might need a helper. Remember your cam locks are now removed and the timing chain is fully tensioned so it’s a little difficult to move the cams , the bridge will go on - don’t force it or hammer it or try to pull it in with the 6 t30 bolts, it only goes on one way and when it does it’ll flush right up.. you shouldn’t have to touch the exhaust cam, I only mentioned if intake only wasn’t working.
