    Clean brake pads

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My brake pads on my S4 are the dirtiest pads I’ve ever owned. What kind of brake pads are you guys running that help keep wheels clean? I can detail my car and by the end of the day they are dirty with black dust. They are oem pads. I live in a rural area of PA so my trip to work and back is up and down a mountain with very curvy roads and almost no straight areas so i use the brakes a lot.

Ceramic brakes are the cleanest. Less bite, but linear braking feel. Semi metallics will stop you 60-0 sooner than ceramics, but if you're not a bad driver, you'll be ok.

    OEM are semi-metallics.

I use Akebono ceramic pads. ATE are also ceramic.

    The 8K 345x30 pads are only semi-metallic (PR-1LD and PR-1LJ (red)). The 8K 320x30 pads started out only semi-metallic (PR-1LA), but they added a ceramic later (PR-1LB).

I'm using Akebono Euro ceramic pads currently and have liked them. Looks like they say they have a set for the S4, EUR1322. I forget the exact difference between EUR1322 and EUR1322A; it's some hardware but I forget which has it and which doesn't. Maybe the caliper guide bolts.

But being ceramics, they give up some performance for the quiet and neutral color dust.

Akebono. No dust, not grabby like the OEM and they last. I put mine on over 4 years ago. I have over 70k and there is still a lot of pad left

Akebono all around several years ago on my 2016 S4 because I got so tired at all of the dusting. Even the OEM Brembos on my 2004 Acura TL didn't dust as much as the stock S4 pads did. HUGE improvement in dusting, as in hugely less of it, and much better braking, in my opinion. The stock pads are too grabby, whereas the Akebono's are much more predictable and progressive in their braking. Big improvement. And no squealing or any other sort of noise regardless of the weather.

I've been using TSW and they work fine, and it's cheap. Brake dust is there, but not bad - cleans off easier than the semi-metallic pads. But I've noticed that they do stain the wheels a bit after a while. TSW along with that other company on FCP Pro are the OEM manufacturer for brake pads for BMW, Merc, and Audi... but it's cheaper.

Use to run Hawk and Ferodo. Their Ceramic pads are good, but too expensive. not tracking my car.

I'm running ebc red stuff. Haven't washed my wheels in almost 2 months and they're still pretty clean.
