VCDS if by far the best and worth every penny. Granted its not cheap however it pays for itself and no nonsense paying for changes or anything else.

VCDS is not the alternative to OBDeleven. ODBeleven was the alternative to VCDS if you didn't want to bother with a Windows laptop or having to actually know something to use the tool.

Your concern seems to be specifically about credits. Which means your concern is about mods. That's OBDeleven's niche. VCDS can do anything OBDeleven can do on the B8 platform, but you have to know how to make it happen. OBDeleven puts all that into those one button mods which the credits pay for. Guess Voltas IT just wasn't getting enough kickback from the ads to cover the costs of working out all those one button mods. Which wasn't all that complicated on B8, but is much more so on B9.

So it really depends on what you used OBDeleven for and what you're expecting the tool to be doing for you, vs. what the tool enables you to do yourself.

OBDelven seems to do exactly what Google does, with Google in the past couple months turning Google Photos from unlimited storage free to 15 gb free and you have to now pay for higher storage.

OBDeleven when I bought it was basically no subscription service. I bought OBDeleven pro and I could do everything I wanted. Then they said that they're changing Pro to a subscription service for anyone who buys OBDeleven from that day on. Now they aren't even offering credits from some quick jobs. I do most everything manually but sometimes when doing the brakes or resetting the service interval saving myself a minute or two is handy.

Also they are just so slow to release updates and we've been waiting for data graphing for multiple years now, which is almost a quintessential feature for any OBD tool. I've been getting fed up with OBDeleven and their practices, especially their lack of graphing since it has made me unable to perform certain data logging. I'm thinking of dropping the money for VCDS and keeping OBDeleven in my glovebox for quick data block checks. I used to recommend OBDeleven for the at-home mechanic; no more. I'll be recommending VCDS from now on since its a buy once keep forever deal.

    So with that, get VCDS

Yeah I think that’s the only way to go. Basically, I’ve always considered OBD11 a toy compared to the power and speed of VCDS, blue tooth is a pain in the rear, I just want to plug it in and have full access to my VAG vehicles and that’s what Ross Tech Hex V2 provides me. The time it saves and having bidirectional I/O it’s a no brainer for serious DIYers
