RS6/7 problems and warranty claims

Please post any RS6 or RS7 ownership problems or warranty claims. Was at dealership today with suspension issue on my RS6 today and the service advisor said these cars are “having lots of LITTLE issues!” I was afraid to ask at the time what she meant specifically.


Owners please update this thread with any problems or warranty claims you have had with your car. Please include model year/mileage/ any modifications/ issue and the resolution

My experience so far:

2021 RS6 7000 miles - mods: Akrapovic exhaust and wheel spacers
Rattle drivers door, 2 trips to dealer. On second trip found loose bolt inside door card somewhere.
Back hatch failure - required new release motor
Front suspension issue with front of car dropping 24 hours after sitting to zero fender/tire gap, car indicates “suspension too low!” No modifications to suspension, currently at dealership for evaluation/repair, will update this thread with outcome

2021 RS6 16500 miles - bone stock. Rear pass strut leaking and replaced 3 months after delivery. Waited 2 weeks for dealer to get parts.

Fixed a rattle in dash on my own.

2 MMI black screens to date. Restarting car resolved both instances.

Periodic random system malfunctions (lights once, auto high beams a couple times). Restarting car always resolves. Not including heavy rain induced assist system malfunction/unavailable due to conditions errors here as that is apparently normal.

myAudi settings update prompt in car the other month reset half my settings. I set them back.

Audi Connect stopped auto renewing in March 2022 but myAudi app claims active subscription...which is suspiciously 12 months from delivery. Never bothered to call and get this sorted. Audi Connect serves no useful purpose for me.

myAudi app is all over the place. Recent app update got things relatively working again...can refresh status and lock/unlock without error and car being off for many hours. Before after car was off for 15 mins everything would error out (refresh, lock/unlock).

I’m hoping I’ve dodged suspension issues by opting for the drc suspension instead.

22 rs6, just bought it 3 wks ago.

I do have drivers door squeaking around the carbon trim, minimal dash squeaks which I suspect will get worse lol. Also had to be aligned at time of purchase.

I avoided the DRC like the plague after experiencing the difference in maintenance cost and hassle on airmatic and ABC (air vs hydraulic) with Mercedes on an E55 and SL55.

So you’re saying the non air suspension on your Benz gave you more issues than the air? Or that the maintenance costs were higher in the non air than the air?

'22 RS6. No problems other than egregious rattling coming from the premium B+O front speakers which is massively disappointing. I'll likely wait for the first service to get it resolved.

Anyone have insight / experience with dealer interactions with modified vehicles? I current am running: Cete module, wheels, sway bars, and full Milltek exhaust, as far as 'performance' modifications go. I've been somewhat trepidatious to do an intake or software simply out of fear of something really going wrong and getting stuck with a massive bill. My E63s wagon was decently modified with Renntech goodies, but my SA was a friend, so there was never any fear of being identified as modified.

2021 RS6 nov 2020 delivery.
Warranty covered leak from rear differential. Known TSB I believe. Covered and fixed January 2022.
No other significant issues or rattles.

Dec 2020 delivery, 5K miles, so far so good.

I thought I had a weird clunk in the rear once or twice after I first got the car but havent heard it since.

MMI has been pretty solid. Maybe a hiccup sometimes when plugging my phone in and it automatically switches to Android Auto. Usually not a problem though. My wifes Q8 MMI is a nightmare half the time.

Air suspension has been fine and the car sits in the garage a lot. Lowered on links.

Intermittent door rattle but that didnt start until I get tinted/PPF so Im sure its just something lose.

500km rs6 lock issue

Not sure what happen but this morning The Central lock error sign flashed on, but after several tries of restarting and locking/ unlocking the error sign disappeared.

However, The doesn’t make the “lock” sound now (not sure how if you know what it means but I’m pretty sure the car made a sound when it locks itself after 20km/h)

Despite no sound, the car lock functions still works and can’t be open from outside however the double open function doesn’t work when opened from inside. Ie, even when the door is lock, my kids can just open from inside.

Not sure if Audi has this function or something wrong with my car, but am pretty sure double open function was in place before The Central lock malfunction.

I guess the question is whether your car makes a sound when it locks and also whether the double pull/open function works when car is locked inside.

I have kids and worry about this (might result in using child lock until this issue is resolved)

The only issue was after about 2k miles I had a rattle with the trunk lid’s removable cargo cover. I resolved this myself with some foam tape on one of the mounts. My car has been a solid daily driver.

Both. Hydraulic suspensions become a nightmare when they age. Valve blocks, pumps, accumulators, & especially hoses. The reason an older AMG S class costs less than an older AMG E class is because of the hydraulic suspension in the S despite the fact the S class cost substantially more new. It would take an insanely special car for me to ever consider owning a hydraulic suspension again. It is the worst.

Your suspension is already voided with the CETE. Most dealers will TD1 you for that alone.

I don’t plan on owning the car for more than a few years, putting no more than 40/50k on it. Safe to assume I’d be fine huh? I’ve been seeing people with air suspension leaks, haven’t heard of any rs6 owners with drc having issues. 🤞

Other than my 458 none of my cars are kept out of warranty. My Gt3rs will be replaced with the new 992 version (fingers crossed). The RS6 I was planning to keep and then chip once out of warranty. I’m starting to have a change of heart and this car will also be on the chopping block at warranty end or much sooner.

My SOS light has been flashing since delivery, and I can’t connect to AudiConnect. It should have been taken care of during PDI. Probably needs a new SIM card. The issue is it’s not that important and I don’t want to leave my car overnight, which is what the local dealer is telling me. I had an appointment last week but changed it to August. It will get fixed eventually.

Update form dealer “installing new air shock” that was 3 days ago and nothing since. It’s been at dealership over a week so far.

2021 RS6- 29k miles on it. Broke down, flat dead on the highway last friday and was towed to the dealership. They told me its the alternator and could be over a month as the car is backordered from Germany. The dealership offered an A4 loaner in the interim. Has anyone run into this problem yet and been given any better options?

My car has been int the shop for close to a month total in the 15 months of ownership. My dealer converted its loaner fleet into used cars and sold them. So you get an Uber type ride to and from the dealership, that doesn’t help if this is your daily driver because you are without a car. Most of my time at the dealership has been waiting on parts as opposed to just performing the quick fix. Otherwise this is a great car, But it’s starting to annoy me now.

Just happened today… 2021 RS7 30k miles.
Electrical system failure shows up on dash while driving and within 5 minutes, multiple other system failures pop up. AC also shut off and wouldn’t come back on. Tried to shut it down and restart but same thing happens, tried it 3 times. Made it home safely but I’m taking into the dealership in the morning!

I was getting frequent multiple error messages but started keeping the car on a trickle charger on weekends and seems to be working. I take a lot of short trips.

You know, these electrical issues might be related to the battery. I know they’re not nearly the same car, but I’m wondering if like my Alfa qv that I traded in for the rs6, the rs6 has electrical gremlins related to the battery/start stop/hybrid systems. I know giulias had a bunch of issues similar to what I’m seeing here and when the battery was changed to a more robust mopar one the issues resolved.

My car has been at the dealer since Friday to fix the stupid SOS/AudiConnect issue. They still don’t know what’s wrong and might have to order a new module, but are awaiting official word from Audi. At least I can drive the car until the part comes in.

My 2021 RS6 goes into Audi on Monday for the same problem. What did they do to repair it?

- Lots of complete blank screens on MMI (upper screen-- no issues with the other ones) that resolve with restart but really annoying especially compared to my 2016 BMW that has had 2 iDrive issues in 6 years
- Lots of CarPlay blank screens which resolve by disconnecting iPhone and reconnecting
- Night vision fluid leak that has happened twice (unclear what is causing this)

my car broke down today as well. electrical malfunction and several other malfunctions came up. owned the car 13 months and have 30k miles on it. took it to a the local dealer and they wont look at it for a few weeks and gave me no loaner. sending it to another dealer who can start working on it faster. seems like its the alternator. super annoying. everyone is saying the alternator is backordered for a month or two. seems wild for a new car.

Central lock error for me too. This one is consistent with the rear left passenger door actuator sticking while opening. When this happens the “soft close” doesn’t work right. If I slowly and repeatedly open and close the door this seems to resolve it but the actuator or latch ultimately seems to be the culprit.

They replaced 5F module (4M2-035-092-B $2,539.69) covered under warranty. Also got my second key fob at the same time.
All works fine now.

I had the same issue. Towed it to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty. I am modded and tuned and they replaced the alternator issue under warranty.

The service advisor said it’s a very common issue along RS6s, RS7s, RSQ8s and Audi has upped the production on the alternators. Mine was at the dealer around ten days.

I know this is an old post but I had the same exact issues. Please see my reply above this. The dealers seem to be replacing them under warranty.

do you have a apr dealer approved tune or a different tune? i have a 93 apr tune and was just about to buy an intake and flat bottom wheel along with an exhaust soon. did they say if the alternator is going to die every 30k?

Just got my car back. They have to replace both the right rear and right front door actuators. They echoed what you said and said the issue is caused by soft close not fully latching the door.

Ordered the parts but said they're on a month lead time.

lots of rattle drivers door on rough roads. Find that if I lower the window one little tap, the issue goes away. will mention it next time its at dealer.

Just me but I wouldn’t tune car and also would not add lowering module and give certain dealerships the chance to void warranty on air suspension or fuel sensor cut off thing.
