    Hey guys,

I know there has been a thread or two, and we see them mixed into the wheel thread…

But I would love to see the slotted, the drilled, the extra bright, the painted wheel hubs, all of it behind your wheel!

If you’ve done an upgrade, show it off!

The sandman rotors are made by Racing Brake. They're not a standard offering, but they built those Type 3 "look" rotors for us.

We usually stick with OE pads for street testing. These can be paired with most any pad on the market.

Furthermore, I forgot to mention, they are available off FCPEuro for their warranty:

They've been great. This is my third set of R1 rotors and I've never had any issues. I'm tempted to go 2-piece on my next brake job, but that might be overkill for my use.

Zimmerman offers both plain and drilled rotors for SQ5 at reasonable prices if that fits what you are looking for.

I was looking earlier this week at this place https://www.germanautoparts.com/cata...ake-Brake.Disc

Lots of options for pads, GAP offers Ferodo pad sets which is currently manufacturer of the OEM rear pads I recently bought to put on my SQ5. Stamped into back plate and then TRW is printed on them with VW AG.

The full Brembo 380mm front kit. So rotors, hats, calipers, lines and pads. Been running these kits for over a decade now. Sooo good haha.

Ah got ya! I’ll be looking for a slotted aftermarket rotor for stock calipers that don’t break the bank. Thanks MOPS

I’ve never ran a big brake kit. The calipers on the SQ5 are large but seem to suck. Pretty noticeable performance benefits with the brembos? I feel like that’s a dumb question but wondering if it’s night and day or just better.

Also anyone running ebc red stuff? Reason I checked on my brakes in the first place was so much brake dust. I want better performance with less dust. Seems to be the best for that from what I can tell but idk 🤷*♂️

I look forward to hearing about the pads. The car certainly feels heavy! I bet upgraded rotors and pads with a much lighter wheel combo would do wonders.

We've been waiting on Stoptech and EBC to build some... for a few years now haha.

It's night and day. On my B9 S4 I run 034 rotors, Hawk pads and SS lines and it's still not comparable to the BBK on the heavier SQ5. But for the spend... it should be. But yeah, the stopping power is hugely improved and most important you can stand on the brakes over and over and over and you will not experience fade. And the pedal feel is much improved as well.

The EBC Reds and Hawk HPS 5.0 are the popular selections for low dust performance pads.

Hey Mops. Any weight savings on the rotors on this kit? I've been thinking about going with some lighter wheels and rotors since it seems like you can save a pretty crazy amount of unsprung weight compared to OEM parts. With 034 rotors and BC Forged wheels, you can easily save like 15lbs of unsprung weight per corner which should be a very noticeable improvement in almost all situations. Are these comparable in weight to the 034 rotors?

With the Brembo GT 380mm kit you drop around 13lbs per corner from stock. Pretty amazing considering the increase in size. And you can easily drop another 8-10lbs with the BCs.

13lbs lighter is nuts. Is that definitely just from the rotors or are the calipers lighter and factored into that? Can you get these rotors in OEM size that are compatible with factory calipers?

Yep the caliper accounts for 7 pounds and they’re massive haha! Quite a strange feeling to hold one. Brembo only offers the the full 380mm kit. They don’t have rotor only offerings.

This also doesnt account for the weight savings of a lighter wallet to boot!

Solid weight reductions across the board.

I see. So, the rotors themselves are actually comparable in weight to the 034 ones. I think every car I've owned in the last 15 years I've said, "Ok, *this* is the one I'm actually going to put Brembos on". And then I see the price and reign in my ambitions. Will probably end up going with 034 rotors since I've been really impressed with the quality of all their parts so far. Thanks for the info, Mops.

Yep, I would say the Brembo 380mm are within a pound of the 034 350mm. And yeah, same with me. I finally bit the bullet for my B8 coupe... gift and a curse. Happy to provide the 034 units if needed. I see they're in stock. I have the full set on my B9 S4 and have been very pleased.

I simply went with Girodisc 2-piece rotors on my '21 SQ5 SB.

The 330mm rears are readily available:

The front 2-piece rotors are in development, and I'm told will be available later this year.

I shall breathe life back into this thread ha. Noticed we had this thread and another was started recently. After having a set of sp performance rotors and ceramic pads on standby for a couple months, decided to go 2 piece. My wheels should arrive by Monday. Hoping to have them installed along with my new(er) brake set up as well. Noticed not many if any run the 2 piece ECS rotors. Went that route since I had a nice credit at my disposal. Will pair them with Power Stop Z23 pads. Will post pictures…

Its ironical… that ur jockin’ my handle format! ;)

Apparently after a 6mo hiatus of eating crickets and PB&J in order to save for some spring mods, I was all thumbs with the search function. #rustythumbs
