Uniden R7 to R8 for the RS

I've been running with the R7 for a while before that it was always Valentine One.

Got my R8 and took it for a spin on a familiar route. It's faster, at start up and at recognizing instant on.

Settings : K POP, MRCD, Gatso, Ka POP, Ka Filter, TSF all turned to On. Other settings are default.

It's better at filtering car radars (you know the one, that Mazda, lol). Muting is easier with the button on the front while you're teaching it. Range is better (earlier detection of static radar on my route), almost annoying because you detect for so long - front and rear. We have Gatso and MRCD here in San Diego. MRCD in Riverside.

Overall I've got to retrain the Mute sections, those are a PITA for now, but when driving there's fewer car radar alerts.

Quality of the case, buttons, display is nicer. Yes it can still vibrate on the single cup mount, but not as bad as the R7.

Worth the extra few hundy? At this level, yes. The times where my R7 was not lighting up, it looked like leo was pointing the detector at me were getting too frequent. Leo around here has freeway monitoring styles, hidey holes, blind freeway curves, wait at the top of the ramp, use spotters with scopes, etc, I had to up the countermeasures =)
