Right turn signal/ brake light/ rear light error

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm getting an intermittent Rear turn light/ brake light/ rear light error. It shows up randomly but everything is working fine. The signal, brake, and regular lighting are all fine. I checked the fuse in the rear fuse box and that looks good too. It goes automatically after sometime...

I'm not sure how to even diagnose the issue. Any Pointers?

Mine does that every time we get a good rain storm, short somewhere in the connection.

Common failure point on C7 A6s. I replaced my left inner tail light assembly about a year ago for this general reason.

So, basically either replace the entire tail assembly or leave it? I looked up and found one for $612, https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...ht/4g5945094b/

Do we have to change this entire part?

Check the side marker light. When they go out it gives a rear lamp failure warning.

Like others said I also replaced the tail light. Issue was moisture related as began was happening when it rained. Eventually progressed to continuous error message. I was able to remove the connector, clean it with some electrical contact cleaner and that did buy me some time... but eventually I replaced it.

Rockauto had the LED ones from time to time, and I think I FCP Euro had them as well.

I had posted about this, but was not able to locate it right now. but if you search here you should find more info.

Thanks Matt for your response. Maybe being in the Pacific Northwest with continuous rains may have caused this. I'll definitely look into the connectors, and side markers before I decide to replace something...

Mine does the same thing up here in the pnw. Wierd thing is it's on the other side from the inner tailight that fills up with water... Now how does water even get into the tailight?

I had replaced both inner tails on my car with a similar fault due to moisture intrusion.

The Genuine Audi units are made by Valeo, so I simply bought new Valeo units for 1/3 the cost of Genuine. (Approximately $200USD each)

Who did you buy from for 200 each?

I’ve been having this problem on and off when I wash the car and I’m careful spraying in that direction, but recently started getting the warning after thunderstorms and the car was parked outside during.

I bought mine through Autoplicity. They have the outer in stock at $300 each. Inners are currently not in stock.

Beware of Made in China copies. My original were made in Spain as were my replacements.
