Will the 8Y RS3 ever be tuneable?

I dont know if its been up there but unitronic has their stage 1 ecu software listed on their site https://www.getunitronic.com/ecu-tun...-rs3-8y-stage1 and John Staffi confirmed today on the 8Y NA Facebook group that theyre currently tuning stock ecu (id post a pic but im on my phone and dont know how to lol)

Not sure if this will flow over to the Audi world (aren't they the same ECU?), but FEMTO is unlocking BMW ECU's to enable OBD tuning.

I emailed FEMTO and they said, "for now, we are only working on BMW models".

Rumor has it that they somehow acquired a BMW encryption key and have kept it close-hold. I doubt they'll ever offer the service for Audi.

So Syvecs looks like they are days away from release publically......and to counter that news, Unitronic posts on IG a subtle suggestive post that they have unlocked the ECU and can flash it.....and then puts for sale the OBD2 flashing cable in the RS3 8Y section of their website....interesting!

These videos are always suspect to me. They never show the flashing process. Why not? And if you had unlocked the ECU which it does appear they have, sell the tech to LARGE companies NOW. It's expensive to research how to unlock this ECU...you could sell the tech for a mint IMO.

Yeah. I don't know. It's all very strange. My suspicion is that they're just all sending the ECU to Russia or to the one place or person who can do this right now.

Yeah, that's from Mission Performance. They are the ones Toyota went to for Supra tuning when the Supra came out so I suspect they know what they're doing. They supposedly have cracked the 2021+ ECU's, but are keeping it close-hold until they can figure out how to lock it down so their work doesn't get reverse engineered. In the meantime, everyone in the BMW world are sending their ECU's to Finland (FEMTO) so the longer Mission waits, the more business they lose.

this is great news! hopefully they have ECU released by end of year, the fact that they are at least in North America (for me a few minutes from my inlaws if I had to go in person), TCU maybe next year - now if we can only hear something about the 2025's and they are coming to Canada...

My mechanic says I’m about to get a Syvecs. Definite sticker shock after I started to put together a build but hopefully we can build something even if it’s not a 1,000whp build off the bat.
Unitronic probably just trying to keep people hanging. We have emissions but since I’m clear of that for another 6-7 years I really want to celebrate by going Syvecs route. I think I’m F’d with my BMW this year I didn’t get to the roadside sniffers in time probably need to register it at a friends house out of county now.
Emissions are such a joke, tell me again why my e85 tune is killing the planet… and this coming from a EV supporting hippie

People are already flash tuning the platform....Unitronic is apparently #twoweeks away from public release....They are working on their stage 1,2 maps that will be released before they make it available to the public.

I've seen companies (APR) take months just to beta test tune revisions, and they still don't get it right. It could be a while still.

Not sure if there's anyone that can remote tune the 2021+ BMW platforms yet with the Bosch ECU; at least not in the U.S. without the DME unlocked via bench-unlock. FEMTO-style. Mission Performance supposedly has the technology to do it, but they are keeping it close-hold until they find a way to encrypt their method so it doesn't get pirated. Until then, the Bosch ECU for BMW's still needs a bench DME unlock. Once you do unlock it, however, you can flash the ECU with your phone and a USB to OBD adapter, which is awesome, but again, it's not very convenient right now. I am unaware of anyone who is publicly unlocking DME's in the U.S. Everyone is sending their ECU's to Finland (FEMTO). If Unitronic has also cracked the code on this, good on them, but it will still suck if we physically need to take the ECU out and mail it to them to bench unlock. Also, currently, on anything greater than their Stage 1, you're required to run their Stage 2 TCU software, but I'm unaware that the TCU has been cracked yet anywhere.

Well it'll be interesting to see what progress they make with the TCU tunes. Without TCU tunes, it makes it much less worth blatantly voiding my warranty with a flash tune.

Most people who dont like the JB4 either dont understand it or are justifying that they spent more money on a flash tune.

Its a fantastic unit and I would put one on my car anyway for data logging purposes and boost tuning.

Had one on my GTI, my S5 SB, and have one on my current MDX type S

Hank Iroz has been swapping out the stock ECU with a Syvecs used another Audi model. I guess they've been working to unlock, but would it be bench? I want an obd flash to allow flex fuel. Had thought the only part needed for that is a fuel sensor.
