That kinda sucks as that definitely adds to the cost of doing a stage 1+ type setup… look forward to seeing when you guys post hp/tq figures look like compared to the 8V when the time comes

so then does that mean that there may be more power on the table to be had with the 8y, vs the 8v that used the stock injectors?

So I see that unironic has a "discount" if you buy their tune now in advance. I think that $1300 is a lot for a tune considering that the same tune on the 8V was around $900. I totally understand that there has been a lot of obstacles and time consumed into getting this tune released. Also from what I gathered the new tune will have more features. It makes me wonder if what I just said fall into the equation of jacking up the price off the tune by roughly 45% more.

Have to imagine with the lower numbers of RS3's in the US the price would need to be higher to recoup on investment. If there were more of us perhaps would be closer to what it was. At least that's my theory on it lol.

So… Went to Uni’s site this morning to see if the sale applied to the tune, which it does. Only option though is to locate a dealer. When I searched, two popped up in my area. When I called the first which is nearer to me, they said, they would have to unlock the ECU in order to install the tune which they would charge an extra $1K on top of the tune cost. They did say they would honor the sale pricing. They also said the tune was available now for those select few that are willing to pay the have the ECU unlocked just as others have said can be done in Europe. If not, I’d have to wait until Uni rolls it out on their online remote flash platform.

Bad news no matter from what perspctive you look at it. I wasn't even aware that a shop would charge you another $1000 just to unlock it. From the bit and pieces that I got from this unitronic topic I heard/read somewhere that the type of ECU was the kind that if you would want the tune in it it would have to be a bench tune meaning that mostlikely you would have to send the ECU and that is fine with me. I heard that people were talking about having a blank ECU as an exchange to mitigate the down time.

Look, I love unitronic, I had their tune on the 8V and it was fantastic but this tuning otion and pricing is getting out of hand.I don't want to put the blame on unitronic because these new ECUs are very hard to crack, God knows how many hundreds of hours these guys already put in trying to crack the ECU and improve the feautures of their tune but when you factor in the price of their tune and what a shop could charge you for just unlocking it I think that it takes away the performance /value and that is a humble opinion.

The remote tuning could be a solution, I would imagine you still need a dongle and Bluetooth/wifi compatibility or a coded cable like they use to have. I am dying for a tune, my car has the suspension, wheels, brakes upgraded but I am on stock power. The most important compliment to my car right now would be a bump in power.

There are 3 things that I totally could leave without and I don't give a $hit on a tune: 1) launch control 2) pop and bangs 3) The roll acceleration with that weird farting befiore it builds boost. Even on stock form the car launches out of the hole decently. I just want to enjoy the simple basic power map/tune, that is it. The map that I am asking about has been release 5-6 years ago, it should be a copy paste of what it was on the 8V(same engine).

This doesn't make sense to me, from my understanding the individual dealers will not be unlocking ECUs for Unitronic as they do not want to give them the means to do that outside of their HQ so that they don't just start doing it on their own or give away their process. Uni isn't doing it for the general population yet so I don't think that shop is really being straight with you.

For the other items, once the ECU is unlocked, it can be remote tuned, no bench cal required every time. From what I understand you can buy an ECU from them, send them yours with down time, or have a loaner while they unlock yours. Not sure what the cost is for the various options.

No way I would be putting money down with any 3rd party yet since the cost and options is going to vary based on stage, e85/Uniflex, etc. no point in tying up 1300 just to find out you need to pay more or whatever. Plus there is still no official release date so who knows what else will change before then.

No way these tuners on unlocking these ECU's in house. They're probably going to send the ECU to Unitronic HQ and pocket the cash. I'd call Uni directly and get the real deal info.

I’m telling you… this is what a South Florida Uni-Dealer told me yesterday. I have absolutely no reason to make this up. I’ve modified 6 vehicles in the last 12 years (VW CC R-Line Stg 3 (APR), Ford Mustang 5.0 (tune/headers), VW Golf Stg 2 (APR), B9 Audi S4 Stg 1 (APR), Audi S5 Stg 2+ (034), 2024 RS3 (stock). The B9’s had to be shipped to APR early on as remote flashing wasn’t available except thru 1 other tuner no longer around (can’t remember the name as I don’t go with them)… I personally feel this this particular dealer was. It being honest with me for several reasons; 1. How could the Uni tune not be available online but through the “dealer” before general release to the public (unless you’re a beta tester), 2. When I declined to move forward and advised I’d wait until release through either direct bench unlock or remote flashing, he said he was unlocking another client car within the next week and that if it was fairly straight forward and didn’t take too much time he could it the price. To me that’s some shady $?!T. I’m not new to modifying or working on cars. I’ve heard something like this before.

Never said YOU were making this up. I can almost... almost gaurantee the tuner is making this up. If I recall, the Bosch ECU needs to be bench unlocked. Like I said, I'd contact Uni directly or maybe Brian@uni can chime in.

The shop in florida that's been beta testing for uni said they had another slot open for a beta tester. If they're still slowly opening up spots for more people to be testing it's gonna be some time before it's released to the public.

"pre-order now" lol. It is like Elon Musk with the cyber trucks. Collecting half of the money and people waiting years. We are going to have to call Trump to negotiate this one and put pressure on Unitronic. We need to get Doug Ford from Ontario province and Trump to hatch it out. Can I get an Amen?

lol!!! tremendous tune... like no one ever seen it before...it will be ready in two weeks and is going to be beautiful...tremendous. I can talk to the guys at Unitronic and have it ready in one day, not two weeks. You guys are going to love it, in fact, I can have this tune made in America, much cheaper, much better, much bigger, with gold emblems and with american engineering like no one ever seen it before. Wouldn't be nice? I am blaming it on Trudeau and sleepy Joe.

    LoL

Oh, come on now. This is purely civil political humor. God forbid anyone be allowed to have any of that while we wait for our tune!

This is what I don't get, someone needs to pay off the Russians and start bench unlocking in America. Maybe once Putin and Trump have their Russian banya, we can stop waiting for Unitronic

I don't understand why Unitronic keeps making posts that say "any day now" and then going dark for months at a time.

    People want transparency.

If you're having an issue, say it.

These things take time, but if you're going to string people along don't be surprised when they get upset after nothing materializes.
