Close fuel cap warning in dash

I have this warning. I replaced the gas cap seal a few years ago. Is it just a faulty code or do I need to replace the seal again?

Likely the seal - try smearing around vaseline on it and see if that helps seal it; if not check for codes as you might have to replace the N80; that was the eventual solution when I was getting the Fuel Cap not closed indicator.

Well, I only tightened the cap and the message hasn't come back.

The signal is transmitted via CAN to the cluster. In theory it’s possible to have an issue anywhere along the pathway.

re: "Close fuel cap warning in dash"

I've had this problem every summer with my A4, only in the warm months (increased vapor pressure?). So it's definitely caused by the EVAP circuit sensing (or imagining) that the fuel system is venting through the fuel fill? Anybody know what sensor does the "sensing?"

Excess pressure probably means the N80 isn't venting the gas tank fumes correctly. The N80 is very accessible at the top of the engine and is a quick replacement.

I do love the sensitivity and over sensing of the Bosch ecu and sensors. I'd rather have a false alarm than a catastrophic no alarm of a typical NGK ecu system.
