Okay getting car set up for stage 2 flex fuel here in 2 weeks. Was wanting to know what Flex fuel kit will work best with the DS1? I see where SRM has one for 200.00 Fuel It has one for 329.99. What is everyone using? Pros Cons and advice greatly appreciated.

I personally prefer the Fuel-It kit because it comes with a harness and that’s the one I use. I will say there aren’t any real cons to the Fuel-it kit other than they make you pay a one time $5 fee for the app (it’s the principle really not the cost really), but you can also tie it into a digital boost gauge like the p3 gauge.

I have the SRM flex fuel kit with my DS1. No issues with it as I use the dash gauge to monitor the ethanol content.

I have the SRM kit. Just be sure to switch out the fitting on the fuel line that runs to your car, as mine and others have popped off while driving.

Guess I can't go wrong with either. The Fuel It kit is more complete and has options. Problem is I just got off the phone with James at ECS tuning and the Fuel It kit is on back order and It will not arrive in time for my appointment for install. I called SRM left a message but no return call which is out of the norm for them.

And thanks for the input everyone.

I haven't use the Fuel It kit, but generally apart from the hardware to fit the sensor and the wiring and the sensor itself, if using a DS1, any other features seem pointless and can sometimes get in the way of the wiring because you end up doubling up the content analyzers. There is no point in another gauge when it is on your virtual cockpit and your ECU is using it. If you want an alert to show the sensor is not working you can program a check engine light to come on after a delay of no ethanol content received.

Fuel-it seems to die after a year.

I think some connect the positive terminal of the fuel-it to a non-switched source and the module stays on 24/7. I think that kills it...

You want the SRM kit. I don't like the connectors they use, so I replaced them with some Earl's connectors.

    Earl's Performance 751166ERL 3/8" x2
    Earl's Performance 751156ERL 5/16" x1

Doesn't look too out of place in the bay, either.

Hey John. I'm about to get DS1 w/ a flex fuel sensor. While I understand the flex being read on the dash, considering I have a TT RS and I always use Apple CarPlay, I will basically never see that screen. I asked to have bTres installed on the car, too and was hoping to use that to monitor my readings. Do you have the same sentiment towards that as you do with other sensors reading the same information?

bTres displays ethanol content. I think they are working on adding the ability to make custom gauges layouts too.

I just realized I linked the same fitting twice, so hopefully you got the two different sizes. Only the links were bad -- the sizes/quantities/part numbers were correct.

I fixed the post to correct the link.

Yes I noticed that that but I went to Amazon and ordered what you listed. Not what the hyperlink said.
