Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
tte700 w iroz catless dp. just updated to the rev1e3 file and wastegate rattle is gone. car sounds so good on the low end now, turbo noticeably louder, less laggy, and redline now at 7800. had to double check i clicked the right file. i either have a squirrel in my dp or the rattle is gone. anyone heard anything official?

rev1e3 is an ecu tune - i always take a picture of the file as i tune just for record and this one says rev1e3 - stage 3 93oct tte700 / 7800rpm rev limit / 4000 LC. it was not there last week. i did also do the stage 3 tcu tune but assume that is the same as it has been

not sure. all i know is it seems like over the past week or so, the uni tune list has changed (if you have stage 3 access, it used to be laughably long. seems like they have trimmed it down a bit) and that one is now on my list - and from what i could see, it is the only tte700 93octane file available at the moment, the previous tune i used was dev1e2 and that was only about 10 days ago and it is no longer on the list.

also, loading this tune took significantly longer than any uni tune i have previously done. it was literally +1% every few seconds with no % jumps over 1%. previous tunes it would make jumps and finish fast.
all i know is i could immediately notice the difference. so much so that after a few minutes i popped the hood to make sure everything looked normal. but after testing, everything was normal, just no wastegate rattle and a much smoother low range sound. waiting for someone to run this file and tell me i'm crazy. only drove about 10 miles with it so far but this is the sound i've always wanted. does not sound messy at all anymore

Good for them. Too bad this information comes after I've jumped ship from them. Either way, that was a much needed fix. Perhaps some day they'll even offer flex fuel, too.

Send them an email at [email protected] with your vin and cable number asking if you have the latest software. If they reply saying a newer version is available, re-flash.

definitely don't want this thread to turn into 'unitronic fixed wastegate rattle on all tunes' - as far as i know, they haven't announced anything. all i know is, mine is GONE using the rev1e3 file that just appeared within the last week or so...this is coming from someone who has driven the car thousands of times, windows down with a catless dp...i am very familiar with the rattle. i'm sure someone from uni will comment at some point. maybe it's an experimental tune that wasn't meant to be uploaded, who knows

Spoke to someone at Unitronic just now (Not John), and confirmed that they were able to reduce the wastegate rattle at partial throttle by forcing the wastegate to be fully closed. I also noticed that there is a second rev1e3 file for the unitronic catted downpipe for emissions purposes.

After seeing your post, I went ahead and flashed the aforementioned tune, which as you stated, did take significantly longer than any of the other reflashes previously. I can confirm that my wastegate rattle has now been reduced by 80-90% and is significantly improved. Car sounds so much better. Hope they roll out these changes for everyone else.

    ~David

Edit: Just to clarify, I have a 2018 RS3 with a TTE700 on a stock block, with all associated required mods, running the 93 octane torque limited file.

Now we wait for it to make it to all of their other tunes. I can't even count how many times people have asked what's wrong with my car.

think he meant stage 3...and i'd say just do a new flash, seems like uni has changed more than one tune over the past week...so it's possible the stage 3 e85 tune is updated but won't know until someone tries it out. i'd be surprised if the 93oct tte700 is the only tune without wastegate rattle out of that long list of files

You're probably right. A lot of the files and names have changed. So it's very likely that their wastegate rattle fix has been implemented throughout. If someone has Unitronic, and isn't Stage 3, try reflashing and let us know if it made a difference.

Had a reply back from unitronic and I’ve been told the following “ Unfortunately, we do not currently offer a solution to lessen the wastegate rattle. The best way to remove the wastegate rattle is by keeping the wastegate completely closed under partial throttle scenarios, however, we find these changes compromise boost control and lead to some drivability issues”

    I do not own a S3 either...!

Since you have unitronic and have access to all of the tunes, I thought you might have seen that the S3 E85 tune was updated. Sorry to bother you though.

No bother. I just misunderstood what you were asking. I can go screen shot the file names, but I don't have anything to compare them to, unless you remember the file names of the tune you were on before. I can only recall the TTE700 93 oct stock block tunes from memory.

That's weird, because that's not the response I got. But either way, there is definitely a noticeable improvement in the wastegate rattle now. But maybe it's just with the stage 3 beta tunes.

Mine is way beyond a noticeable improvement - it's a different car. you said your rattle is 80-90% gone right? mine is 100% gone from the driver's ears

It's only 1 file for now, the tte700 93 file, rev1e3. Shift point also increased to 7800 as well. They said likely for other files but no timeline as of now.

Hallelujah if they finally managed a waste gate fix. Praying it trickles down to the stage 2 tunes! I'd switch to unitronic in a heartbeat if they solved this on all their tunes. The difference is so drastic once you've had a patched tune there is no going back. Without the rattle the exhaust note is pure music.

Yeah but who would run a Revo tune? :).

Loads of independent tuners have been offering the WG fix for years now. Bout time Unitronic listened to its customers.

I checked with Unitronic earlier this week to make sure I have the latest files (ECU & TCU)- they confirmed that the stage 2 file has not been updated since late November ‘21 (when I flashed)

I reached out to Unitronic on the Stage 3 E85 files. No ETA at this time. I might switch over to the 93 octane file just to not have to hear the wastegate.

I wanted to let the group know Uni provided me a new tune for my stage 2 2018 TTRS that they indicated was just done this year to eliminate the wastegate rattle issue. The name of the file for anyone interested is:

Stage 2 93oct/98ron rev6 rattle fix- REQUIRES Uni MPI Upgrade, Downpipe, Midpipes, Intercooler, Intake, Turbo Inlet - LFB Enabled, Exh Flaps Fully Open in S-mode

This tune has completely resolved my wastegate rattle issue and I can now enjoy the sound of the car instead of being embarrassed by it.

    Cheers!

I gotta say, I'm surprised that Unitronic did that but, it's way, way overdue. Now, they need to support flex fuel, injectors larger than 980cc, multiple-pump fuel systems, and hybrids outside of TTE.
