    Aftermarket Charge Pipe Kit?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is anyone aware of an aftermarket charge pipe kit for the B9 SQ5? The only one I've seen is the one with the APR intercooler however they don't sell it separately and say that it's proprietary to their intercooler. I ask because mine popped off my AWE intercooler recently so I'd like something better than stock. A part of the problem may be poor design with the AWE where the pipes connect to it. I'm considering swapping to the Wagner however that does not include new charge pipes either.

I talked with Johann at CarbnLabs and he was making fit changes to there Intercooler with charge pipes. It’s the same as the B9 S4 they have with changes in the bends. Give him an email for the status on the B9 SQ5 checks

so I did quite a bit of research on this because I have a wagner FMIC from a b9 s4 with the charge pipe kit.

After talking to wagner the FMIC core is exactly the same from s4 to sq5, the only thing different is the hardware mounting kit. I also asked about whether the charge pipe kit would fit, and they reported that it was not designed for the sq5 but that an sq5 owner did in fact fit the charge pipes by flipping the throttle body pipe.

All that being said, most of the s4 guys do not think it is worth it to have a charge pipe kit as they are a pita to install and minimal gains. esp when u have a plastic manifold anyway.

My charge pipe popped off my intercooler. Perhaps it wasn't secured tight enough or perhaps it's due to the poor design with the AWE Coldfront inlet/outlets. There's a big difference when you look at the AWE vs the Wagner. The Wagner looks like it would hold the connection better. I will probably end up swapping out my intercooler instead of looking into charge pipes. Thank you to all who responded.

We were working with Wagner. We installed the charge pipe kit on our 21 SQ5 and also installed it on another 19 SQ5. They do not list it yet, but so far we have not seen any issues. Feel free to email for a FMIC and charge pipe price quote.

Yes we installed the S4/S5 Charge pipe kit and I think just flipped the TB hose.

Hey man I’m running into the same issue with the awe intercooler. Did you get it resolved with the Wagner charge pipes?

Just wondering... How do you know when your charge pipe blows off?

You'll know... You loose almost all power, probably get a CEL. The car will just crawl

For what it’s worth I’ve been running the Wagner intercooler for over a year with stage 2 epl and now stage 1 e85 034 tunes and have not had any issues.

I got the Wagner Intercooler and Charge Pipes, I just haven't had time to swap yet.

You'll hear a pop and will lose all boost. You'll hear your turbo when you give it gas, just no boost with it.

Thanks! Good to know. I’m running a Forge IC and haven’t had any issues.
