    V band adapters?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone know if there is a v band to 4 bolt adapter that fits our bolt pattern from the turbo to the down pipe? I don’t want to change my HFC if possible. I’m considering changing turbos (again lol) and trying to minimize the amount of fab work. Hopefully I can source everything and avoid using a welder altogether. No one around here seems too confident about doing fab work like this for custom turbos. Also, would need silicone pipes to run the compressor side for intake and charge pipe if anyone has a suggestion. Looking at the EFR 6758 with a t25 exhaust manifold.

I tried to find the same but have not been able to locate one. I’ve been sitting on a 6758 and built a jig to help figure out connections. I’ve come to the conclusion that HFC modification is the way to go. Based on my current findings, I would need to shorten the hfc a bit - an adapter would just push it back further. Looks like I’m going to have to pick up another hobby (welding). Always wanted to get into metalwork anyway! Haven’t done it since college!
…so in short, hfc chop and vband weld seems to be the way to go. I think bb did it that way - hopefully he will chime in.

As for the silicone connections - No one will sell them separate from full kits so I figured I’ll need to piece it together from elbows and connectors. 2.5 to 3 inches (I want to attach at stock air box location). There are t-pipe options to handle the breather tubes, etc.

Another concern is the location of the wastegate actuator. Looks like it might be a little tight. Not sure if clocking it will solve the issue OR if I will need to fab a new bracket.

This is still a work in progress. Once I figure it out - I’ll be more than happy to share more findings!

… so all that to say I don’t have any definite answers for you! :). Hopefully others will chime in but I think this concerns a very small population!

Wg shouldn't be issue, the 6258 actually fit easier than the k04-0064. Any muffler shop should be to weld a v band on for you i just had them cut off flange of old test pipe and weld v-band on till i get my new downpipe and exhaust done.

Did you do any welding on the compressor side or just used a bunch of silicone hoses with worm clamps? It’s crazy there’s not a vband adapter out there. When I installed the K04x I didn’t remove the HFC, just pushed it back a bit for clearance. Seems like a short v-band to 4 bolt adapter would still be able to fit without having to cut or weld.

Are you using the Turbozentrum 6758? Or just bought the turbo itself? Wanted to buy the Turbozentrum 6758 because I thought it was almost plug-n-play?

I looked into the turbozentrum setup however they are out of stock and don’t seem to know when or if they will produce more. Also, it seems the flange has the wrong bolt pattern for our longitudinal engines. So it seems like even if it were available, it would still need to be modified. The K04-0064 option is the one that would be bolt on for our cars.

…and OP - I did find some slim vband to 4 bolt adapters BUT - again, the bolt pattern is not correct so the adapter would need to be modified - either new holes drilled or the proper flange welded on. Also, the efr has a special BW vband. For proper sealing - it needs the proper other half. I think there is a male and a female side.

buy flange and v band go to muffler shop ask them to make adapter, i would make as short as possible would not want to add a bunch of length, but again why not just cut flange off the hfc and weld v band on to it and be done.

Used the Tip shown on compressor side perfect fit from turbo inlet to the stock air box.

The Boss kits are plug and play. You get to use your current downpipe with them. But EFR turbos are much better and worth the trouble.

Did you have to weld a support bracket on the turbo like the K03s and K04s have? Or are the bolts connecting the exhaust manifold to the block enough support?

their is now this option with Garrett G25 series that is very interesting.
the compressor map of th G25-550 is very impressive.
I already post it once here

the price is for the Turbo plus the exhaust manifold

I drive a lot of city as well has highway so I don't want to sacrifice low for top end. Which is why I wanted to stick with the EFR. I wonder how much modification it needs to make it work.

As far as modifications, you'd only really have to worry about the downpipe. The rest is pretty straightforward. There's a couple extra things you have to do but it's all easy stuff. Also since there's not really a "kit" for that setup then you do might have to make an intake to be able to connect the PCV and one of the N75 lines.

Would this adapter fit to attach my current HFC to an EFR turbo with v band hot side? I don’t have measurements for our bolt pattern but hoping someone here might.

    Nope…
1 - bolt pattern is different.
2 - that universal adapter doesn’t have the “special” efr angled lip that fits into the turbo outlet. It may fit up but sealing could be an issue.

In the end, chopping up an hfc/test pipe and welding on the proper efr vband flange is the only way to go here. Any shortcuts wouldn’t be worth the trouble -especially since you spent all that coin on an EFR!
