    Stage 1 tune + stage 2

I’m planning on going stage 1 and then stage 2 after. I’m deciding between 034 and IE, I can’t find good dyno sheets for both tunes stage 1 and stage 2.

From what I have seen, most of them dont have the best dyno sheets. And to be honest, unless the dyno runs were made the same day from stock thru each stage on the same dyno it is hard to quantify the results. Personally I would just go straight to Stage 2 as long as you have done the required hard part upgrades as well. Most of the Stage 1 tunes only give around a 25hp gain and some driveability improvements.

Heres the dirty little truth about tunes...all shops embellish their dyno results for marketing, and generally all the tunes are within a couple of horsepower of each other for any given fuel. The car with stock turbo is hardware limited, so they all wind up at the same power levels once that turbocharger is maxed out. Better to look into which bells and whistles they offer with the tune, dollar cost, what the total cost with TCU tune will cost you, the method of flashing (at home or at a shop), and whether it is important to have any support near you or not. EPL, IE, 034, Unitronic seem to be the favorites at this point but I'm sure APR, Revo, and others have all arrived at about the same place when it comes to a dyno chart. There really isn't any magic that one tune offers over any others.

    Cheers.

I don’t think this is accurate at all. Also IE and EPL say there is a 0% gain with their stage 2 tunes.

A guy tested IE stage 2 vs 034 Stage 2 on the same day on the same dyno and made something like 20 more WHP over IE and something around 30 more WTQ. IE immediately and vaguely poked at the guy to make it seem like his test wasn’t legit. Looking at the drag race leaderboard I’d say 034.. personally.

I would love to see where 034 and EPL both have said there is zero increase in going from their Stage 1 to Stage 2 tunes. That isnt the info I got from Chris at EPL and I have used their tunes several times now. To even go Stage 2 with EPL you need to have a aftermarket CAI and a upgraded I/C and any other mods you are willing to throw at it. To go to their Stage 3 you are required to have a upgraded downpipe.

I never said 034 said that. 034 is the only one that says you get a gain from the downpipe on a stock turbo. It’s required for their stage 2 and they market a power increase over Stage 1.

Go ahead and mozey on to IEs site and tell me what the power difference is between stage 1 and stage 2

To be fair on EPL I could be misremembering, but I thought he said something along the lines of that being hardware gains.

I own both stage 1 034 and IE stage 2 tunes with the full TCU tune. I had fomo.

My impressions without dynos on my car is that the IE tune ‘feels’ stronger, more responsive/boosty, more fun. 034 has burbles and open valves so it sounds better, more roudy.

The IE tcu tune feels focused on drag racing. The 034 has what feels like more work done on daily drivability. S/manual shifts are super fast and snappy. Really dsg like.

Both companies are in the 9’s with their shop cars with hybrids if you want to judge apples to apples as best case examples.

They both have money back guarantees so you can basically try before you commit minus the cost of the cables.

Personally I’ve settled on 034 tcu and IE ecu. I know I know

We have never said that. We have said that a DP on a stock turbo car is not much of a gain. Stage 2 tune with a FMIC and intake or modified airbox is a very noticeable gain over Stage 1. Just adding a DP does not make a B9/9.5 car Stage 2.

Adding to this... A stage 2 tune makes a car stage 2... Adding a downpipe doesn't make a car stage 2.

I honestly would say that dyno numbers don't really mean diddly. Yes it's nice to have them and when they are high it's nice to brag but when it comes down to it. Dyno numbers don't win races...if that is what you're after. I can comment on the two as I have had both of them and I am happily rocking 034Motorsport on my B9.5 S4. Their tune wins in all categories for me. I've ran my fastest times on my Dragy with 034Motorsport. I enjoy driving my car the most in all aspects of driving with my 034Motorsport tune and feel that they have their stuff nailed down for every part of driving your S4. If you have any questions about my experience with both, feel free to shoot me a PM! I would happily steer you in the right direction!

I’ve heard a lot of people saying this as well and was leaning that way since the beginning thank you!

Went with IE after a lot of considering. .5 seconds faster on my 0-60 and it’s really “torquey”
