Is upgrading the OEM rear sway bar worth it?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm looking to get some input on upgrading the OEM rear sway bar to the 034 Motorsports variety. Is it really worth it? Does it make a noticeable difference? I'm looking into buying one, but just want to make sure it's money well spent. BTW, I'd be upgrading the sway bar and the end links. TIA!

Absolutely worth it. I have a 2014 A6 S-line with sport suspension and I upgraded to the the 034 rear sway bar and the difference was immediately felt. After a month of driving the difference was less felt but imo it's one of the more cost effective upgrades you can make.

That's exactly what I was wanting to know. Really appreciate the feedback!

the rear is absolutely critical to upgrade.

that fat ass of ours needs something to help keep her planted and not so cattywonkus out back

as for the front.....not so much. if you need to, get an adjustable bar, and make sure you go soft on its settings unless you are ONLY going straight. You'll fight the front end way too much for turns if you go heavy/hard settings

Typically a larger front bar increases understeer.

A larger rear bar will increase oversteer/turn in. (desireable)

Stock or upgraded endlinks? Or are the upgraded endlinks just a very minor upgrade?

Do front and rear. Front on soft setting, rear on stiff setting. It's balanced and doesn't cause understeer like they claimed it did in older generations of audi.

That's just another 034 sales pitch now because they didn't design their sway bar for the C7, they designed it for the B8 chassis and it fits C7.

I have F&R Eurocode (because Red is FastaR)

    ECS Adjustable Front Endlinks
    034 Adjustable Rear Endlinks

you can settle up with just the rear fixed dogbone hard links, and not go with the adjustable rears....
If you do the front endlinks, please do not set on firmest settings as you will not like the turn in response at all with it. You are fighting a front plane that is very unforgiving

be sure to add the 034 adjustable metal end links if you upgrade, ive broke several oem end links and i wont go to the spherical ones cuz they get noisy and wont last in my climate.

I think I’m going to go with H&R sways with oem links to start out. Hopefully the oem links won’t break but I guess I’ll find out! Sport suspension so perhaps a little more support from the springs than standard suspension.

In all my years in the audi community and organizing spirited driving events for local audi clubs, I've never personally seen anyone break their OEM end links. I could only imagine this might be an issue for someone who tracks or does auto cross but these cars are way too big for auto cross.

Awesome thanks! I've got a pcar and many two wheeled things for track duty. The a6 is my DD so I imagine it'll be fine. I run high performance all seasons spring/summer/fall and winters in the winter so it's never really going to experience ultimate traction either. No big deal if I do break one, but seems likely I won't.

You can find the OEM end links super cheap on amazon also. It's been a few years since I looked it up but they should be on there still.

Cool thanks! I can probably re-use mine (car has 20k miles on it) but will check that out if I need new ones. I've got an appointment in a couple weeks to have front and rear H&R sways put on as well as swapping out the winter wheels/tires for my summer setup (which will actually be a high performance all season).

If you're not tracking your car, is there any benefit to putting on different sway bars?

do you enjoy the rear end paying out on you in a hard corner?

would you have more control of your under-steer?

thats what a rear bar and supporting links will allow you

All I know is that my 2008 Chevy Tahoe with factory sway bars turned-in more neutrally than my '13 A6 with S-Line suspension. That just doesn't seem right. I'm thinking about adding an aftermarket rear bar.

Sway bars and stage 1 tune are top 2 mods that have the most noticeable improvement to the driving experience.

DO NOT PUT EUROCODE SWAYS ON YOUR CAR!!!

Search the forums, they break. Sway bars just don't break on cars.........unless they are the Eurocode bars. Stay away.

recommended even with the sport differential? That this is electronic magic as far as I'm concerned.. It gets a 4300lb car around corners like its a Civic.

ahhh.... the list of possibilities is endless.

Just started 034 driveline mount kit install over lunch today. Snapped a damned bolt and have the trans insert in but only ONE bolt. I'll try tap and reverse tomorrow AM. Then maintenance, more cooling and more power! Then, perhaps more handling!

034 driveline mount kit is it best to replace all the bolts and use blue loctite for the installation?

what end links were you guys using
You can say whatever you like. Here are the FACTS: Stock end links on my car. NO OTHER SUSPENSION MODS on this car. 93K miles on it right now, sways on at about 40K. Driven mostly has a daily driver, rarely pushed hard and I hate the weight balance of the Audi, so very rare to push in corners.

If you go with Eurocode bars, prepare to understand what a rip off is.

EDIT: I will agree with you on one thing, it does not look like a torsion break. It looks EXACTLY like metal fatique and I am pretty sure it is a welding fault on the suppliers end. Also, with close inspection, it is pretty obvious that it started to crack long ago and finally completed its work the other day. The major break, most of the diameter, appears to have broken at once.

I was agreeing with you the break is weird.

a twisting torsion break would show as it would be twisted and more narrow

that looks like it developed a crack and over time snapped.

I still stand by reaching out to EC and seeing what they can do, or at least so they can make a better product

I've had Eurocode installed for 4 years and never had an issue. They've always supported anyone who had issues even though it was usually installation error.

I drive the absolute dog piss out of my car....so time will tell if they fixed their issues between your set, and mine.

again, if you dont tell someone how to be better, will they ever become better?

they might comp you a bit, or work out a replacement to sell off. Im not associated with EC, I just support the development and ability for someone to become better when faults are identified
