Have some folk in Europe already had this recall work done? Maybe they can post a list of all the parts that were replaced.
I'm willing to bet they only replace what is absolutely required...strainer, check valve, gaskets and o-rings...oh and some coolant maybe.

The recall was issues 3/29/22 according to the nhtsa.gov site. At what point do we start to get concerned that they are not acting fast enough to provide a remedy since it still says the remedy is not available? Here's what it states at the bottom of the recall page and I'm still trying to figure out how to interpret what a "timely manner" means:

If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner,
please contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or TTY: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with NHTSA.

Not acting fast enough...lol. Understandable frustration but considering the motor has been around for a decade not acting fast enough is the name of their game and it took a SAFETY recall from the NHTSA to even get them to commit they should fix something they already knew about for years.
Right now I'd assume this is purely them in CYA mode...anyone gets hurt and it is determined it was due to this issue, they can say well...the recall was issued...we were just working out the details...sorry. Ha

So if I threw a CEL and EPC, motor is down on power and it seems like I'm not making boost, I have excessive oil consumption and it occasionally smells like burning....I'm definitely fucked, yes?

Should my Audi dealership be trying to charge me $200 to diagnose it if I have the NHTSA letter? Has anyone else already had this remedied without the car completely blowing up before they replace the turbos?

I was told there would be a diagnostic fee if wasn't the turbos. But since turbo was bad no fee

Is it already known what is the scope of the recall?
Is it a replacement for yet another oil strainer revision or some reengineered solution like a serviceable turbo filter?

    1) Based on information members have discussed in this thread and collected from sources, yes.
    2) No, unfortunately. Check out post #76 - new rev oil screen and an oil change. Even gets into specifics of the mesh size delta

And finally, here in Belgium, i received my letter/mail from D'Ieteren aswell regarding the oilscreen filter.
Might jump by my dealer checking what they can do as compensation since i already did the oil screen relocation on my own (after other dealer laughed me out a bit 'oh....don't always need to believe the internet what they say....'.

I recently bought my S6 and don't have a recall letter but I was able to set an appointment up at the local Audi Cary dealer to have the recall work done. The SA told me they would have to order the parts for my upcoming appoint at the end of the month.

Turo unlisted my car due to the recall.

Can't relist till it's clear and Audi is just plodding along without a care in the world as we keep adding miles!

Haven't gotten any updates... do we have to push?? Anyone know if they are allowing Indys to do this??

    This Sucks!!!

Snow... Are they doing all the applicable parts (gaskets, TTY hardware...) or just the bare min to slap in a screen and ship it out?

My local is known for cutting the corners (took my A5 in for OC issue validation. They didn't even lift the hood (verified by dashcam)) so I'd like to know what I can expect to hold them to!

    Thanks!

Anyone know the book time on the recall or how long it has realistically taken? My dealer is out of town so I would love for it to be done in a single day.

I just booked mine for 8/11 - the dealer told me it would take 1 full day assuming I got it there by 8am.

Could have done mine week of 15th but had to push it out to wait for a loaner to be available.
Question, does anyone have a ball park cost for the dealership to replace the PCV ontop of the recall turbo screen? My dealership wasn’t able to tell me and said their technicians need to look at it.

Dealership just charged me for the new part as it has to be removed anyway to do the turbos.

Thanks that is really good to know, now just have the talk to the Service Advisor , they usually give all sorts of excuses not to do the change.

well I didn't ask to be honest, I know they changed the oil and oil filter

and to answer on how long it took, well for me they kept the car more than 2 weeks and didn't give me a replacement ... had to take my mother's car

and I got my car back this friday, and the ACC and lane assist are not working properly anymore so it will have to go back

As shown by a couple members here, USA Dealers are taking appts - if you're car is eligible, their systems will now allow them to book the recall repair. Call them, don't wait for them to call you

I just made my appointment for this 8/12. The phone operator said it would take a day but he did not sound informed or confident in that. Like others, no loaners for this recall. They offered me a free Uber back-and-forth. The car is running absolutely great, DS1/SRM setup perfect, and I am terrified they are going to screw it up. This dealership is not known for its quality control in the service department. But I am more worried about blowing out a turbo on my ‘16 S6 with 45,000 miles.

You are likely going to get flagged, if not already - they will 100% scan your car. It is a safety recall, so they "should" perform it regardless, but ya never know with Audi.

Not sure what type of Audi dealers y'all go to or have around you, but I get a loaner 100% of the time, the few times I have brought mine in. I don't even need to ask.

Those with the JHM turbo oil line, do you even bother with this recall? Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Can someone share the cost of what the dealer is performing if available? Replied in another thread, but I just submitted my paperwork (estimated 60 days to hear back - hopefully sooner) and the repair cost would be capped at whatever Audi performs at. Would assume the labor cost would be fairly high but you never know.

Cost of $450 for dealer to do my pcv while in there. That's parts and 30min labor (assuming min labor they can charge) to do something while swapping the old for the new when it's out. Something needing to be put together.

So what would you guys have them swap while in there? ASSUMING they replace all the gaskets they take apart with fresh gaskets(including valley pan gasket), I'm thinking:

    1. PCV(?) - https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...ly/079103542e/
    2. oil check valve - https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...ve/079103175c/

Anything else while they're in there that's worth swapping with fresh parts?

I am asking them to do #2 the oil check valve as I believe I still have about 2 years of warranty left that covers the PCV until the car is 10 years old.

What's labor cost of doing the oil check valves as well?
I think we have seen it depends on your dealership. They are already right there and have to remove the check valve anyway to get to the screen, so in theory, should be just the cost of the part. We also know they aren't going to do that for free... they'll probably want 2-3hrs labor is my guess, but that's just a guess

    You may want to.... WHY???

My Turo account was suspended for an active recall associate to my VIN. So I cannot rent out my car till the recall is cleared. Doing it myself (which I have done but am now thinking I should waste the time!) or through an Indy isn't going to clear it.

I would also presume that this will show up on a CarFax report as an open recall that wasn't cleared. So if you ever went to sell the car, this might be an issue that you would have to prove to the hopeful new owner and let them live with a recalled car. It might cost you $$ to appease them.

I'm was torn (I did it myself a week after I got the car) but the Turo and possible uncleared recall are making me rethink this plan.

    Decisions... decisions...

Got the letter last night. Called them just a minute ago.

She goes under the knife on the 19th. SA said it would take 6-8 hours and they are giving me a loaner due to the extd time it takes.

    Fingers crossed... we'll see.

I did it because I did not want blown turbos and gave myself excuse for stage 3. I had the latest revision of oil screen at that time.

    What’s the newest revision?

Sent from my iPhone using Audizine Forum
    Audi S7 stage 3 w/srm turbos
    Audi B8 S5 stage 3 w/apr supercharger
    Audi SQ7
Audi Q5 3.0 EPL stage 2 single pulley (gone)
Audi Allroad 2.7 stage 3 (gone)
    Audi B5 S4 stage 3 (regrettably gone)
    Audi B8 S5 (gone)
