Thinking of selling my 21 RS6

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was offered $131k for my Sebring Black RS6. 8,500 miles. $127k MSRP (Black, Ceramics, Exec, Exhaust . . .). I can do a courtesy trade and get roughly an additional $4k tax credit on a new purchase, so it's really like selling for $135k. I'm roughly break even at that number when I factor in cost of full PPF.

Is $135k a fair price these days? I have not been following the RS6 market at all since I took delivery 11/20.

    Thx

With my added extras I’ve had offers at 150-160. If someone hits 165-170 I’d sell. So depending on your mileage and options it’s a good price in this market. I should state I’m in California where people are crazy :)

That makes a huge difference, people over here are crazy, or just so crazy loaded it doesn’t matter to them lol. My service advisor at Fletcher Jones told me they turned somebody down when they offered $40k over MSRP for a new R8.

Would you say it was worth everything you went through, maybe it was easy not sure, to get the car only to sell it a year(?) later and break even, OP? Do you not like it? Personally, I would keep it until I started getting considerably higher offers which is definitely possible.

    What would be the replacement?

I don’t get it when people sell this quickly. Maybe if you were offered 50-100k over from an investment standpoint? But to break even on a car that most feel is a dream car/halo car for Audi after 1 year just doesn’t seem worth the effort. Unless the C&C swag/shine has worn off with your crew and that matters to you?

Didn't work for me. Not a great DD, not a great 5 person family hauler, not a great car for my line of work.
Absolutely loved the looks of the car, but just fell short in other areas I needed right now.
Getting out relatively unscathed financially was a bonus.

Thank you. The RS6 is a cool car, but I don't consider it a halo car. Nor do I consider it an investment, much less a good one. I couldn't care less about cars & coffee. Just thinking about making some room in the garage and whether the offer on the RS6 is sufficient to consider.

Curious what made it not a great daily driver for you.

My opinion on this is that gas mileage is atrocious for a DD in city traffic. If you are stuck in fairly heavy traffic for your commute you will never ever get 200 miles to a tank. Yeah, no one buys this car for fuel economy but whats the point of touting the mild hybrid? Audi phoned it in on fuel economy on the C8.

Needing to have the car towed twice within a year of ownership due to a flat tire irritated me, for one.
Interior is tight for a family of 5 roadtrip is the other major one.

Most of the others were personal in nature that wouldn’t apply to anyone else.

As a fellow Californian, there’s clearly an element of crazy (unjustifiable) with car pricing new and old…but Fletcher Jones in particular, is a key contributor. They’ll gouge anyone for an extra $.
After years as a loyal customer across multiple cars, my 22’ RS6 (ordered and purchased in S. Carolina as a result of FJ’s approach) will never see Fletcher Jones for anything…even service.

That sounds like a shitty experience and yeah, it definitely seems like they’re trying to take advantage of the crazy pricing these days. That’s one of the main reasons I’d skip buying a car right now, or selling one if I needed a new one. Personally, I got an amazing deal on a new custom ordered TTRS and then 2 years later I got an amazing deal on a new SQ5. I have no intention of selling either car for at least a couple years and I’m hoping by then things will have normalized because it’s not just Fletcher Jones. Audi Ontario, iirc, tried screwing me on the SQ5 big time but I didn’t fall for it.

I would agree its tight for more than 4. For me with 2 carseats i cannot fit a 5th. Rest are obviously personal reasons… Especially the unfortunate tire issues.

Seconded. My OEM Pirelli's survived for about 1k miles before taking damage. Never had any luck with Pirelli longevity.

I have a set of Conti All Seasons for November through April. When the OEM Pirellis are shot, I'll go with Michelin if I still own the car.

That's my setup and plan too — although I've already had to replace one Pirelli due to a sidewall bubble (likely due to an NYC pothole) and just noticed another in my storage has a screw right though it, so that one will need replacing too :-/

I have 21” winter rims so the tire has thicker sidewall. Running blueearths.

Btw if you told me the reason you wanted to sell was the boot getting dirty if their is any moisture in the air. I would say that’s a legit reason. My entire cars clean except the back. And that part looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in a year.

100% this! I don’t understand how it gets so dirty so quickly! Luckily I have a commercial electric pressure washer with dionized water permanently installed in the garage :)

Pirelli, which lasted all of 600 miles. They were swapped to 4 Hamkooks because of the back order situation on the Pirelli's at the time.

Flat with hankooks 10k miles later, on I95, in a construction zone, at night in the rain. That was fun.

Yes, for now. No comparison of course, but a Hellcat Durango.

In a year or two all my kids will be of driving age, so we will revisit this again sooner than later.
I may attempt to order one again soon actually. Won't be A DD next time
