    Neuspeed 19mm Rear Sway Bar

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So i installed my neuspeed rear sway bar, and its not exactly as big of an improvement as i was expecting.

I started with it set on medium, and i could definately feel an imbalance between the sides, and it still swayed alot, so i set it on hard and have yet to drive it.

im not worried about having it on hard unless it oversteers too much. My 97 has metal endlinks.

i havent really had a chance to hammer it, my opinion may change when i get it back into the mountains tomorrow.

maybe it will change when i drive it on the hard setting.

I went from a regular non-sport, straight to the stiffest setting and the first time i really tightened the turn i was damn impressed. Did you install the sub-frame support brackets too?

yup, installed the whole kit, i also went from that dinky 12mm bar to the 19mm neuspeed bar.

i am a little more impressed on the hard setting.

i also believe much of the roll thats left is due to the fatty crappy tires on my 15" wheels... too much sidewall....

I do however notice that the responsiveness is very much improved, there is no delay from turning the steering wheel to the time the car changes directions...

How much did that run you? Neuspeed the only ones who make it for the B5?

I installed it after having my Stasis suspension for a while (which I thought was stiff) and noticed a difference. I went from the 16mm sport package bar (for sale if anyone wants) to the 19mm neuspeed set on hard and can notice a decrease in roll and a bit more tendancy to want to oversteer. The rear is definitely tied together more and acts almost like an solid rear. I get a ton of wheel lift when I go into driveways now.

Definitely a worthy upgrade for suspension-oriented folks.

i picked it up from an SPP group buy, contact them for pricing...

Addco Makes one for the B5, i think you can get it for about $125 shipped, but it doesnt have subframe braces... neverenoughauto is the ebay seller, if you contact him through his website he offered me the pricing of 125 shipped...

Intrax makes a rear swaybar for the b5 as well

and Hsport has a swaybar set, front and rear for the b5

    As does H&R. They do a 32/17 and a 32/21 kit.

I think i will get the 32/21 kit next month.

Loads of the S4 guys have it and recommend it.

I thought the H-sport kit sounded good but it would cost me about $130 for postage then about $200 for duty etc.

Man, I installed my Neuspeed sway a few weeks ago and I love it...and it's still on it's softest setting! The car really dives into the turns now, and feels much less twitchy at high speeds on the highway. I dunno, just feels tighter and more responsive all around.

I have yet to try it on my 16' snowtires...that'll be in a few months. I'm on 17' ultra performance summer rubber at the moment, so I'm sure that helps.

Are Neuspeed sway bars really that cheap?? I've only been able to find kits for at least $200. Am I looking in the wrong place? Please help....I NEED to upgrade my car.

neuspeed arent that cheap... mine was 229 plus shipping as part of a group buy from spp

you can get cheaper swaybars like the addco, but as i have stated before, they dont come with support braces for your subframe... they are about 125 shipped..

I'm willing to bet you can find quite a few people that will say it was one of their better upgrades, both from a cost/benefit and overall perspective. But certainly a matter of opinion...

It was my first suspension upgrade, so I could be biased. My buddy put sways (front and rear) on his 323is recently, and said he felt a big improvement, even with the coilovers he had installed last year.

Yeah i think uprated sways will make a big difference.

But i would always fit them after uprated dampers.

Because the old dampers will not be able to cope with the stiffer sways.

yep, soupies right, id do it after upgraded struts..

once you get there though the suspension is already stiffened from roll, so that may be why i havent noticed as much

after driving around more, i like it alot more, and i think the lean im still getting is from my tires. the pressure was a little low, so i fixed that, but havent yet driven...

was it worth the 250shipped? ill let you know when i get through the mountains... leaving here at about 3, and will be back in Boone at about 5...

Yeah, it's on its softest setting, and I try not to whip it too much, so hopefully it won't kill my sport-stock shocks too fast.

Haven't tracked my car with the swaybar yet.

ok, i retract everything i said...

got a chance to really wind it out during my drive back up to school, and DAMN... thats all i have to say...

first interstate onramp i wanted to see how fast i could go, and i got to the speed i would usually feel uncomfortable at (35), and i wanted to see what it would do so i kept on the gas and DAMN, i was going 50 and feeling good about it...

then when i got to the mountains it was just amazing how stable it was around some very sharp curves...

i had a perma-grin for the whole drive...
