What’s causing this? maxton front lip

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi all,

I’ve wondered a long time at pics for a while as I consider this mod….

    Jaykane5 (low slant/slope on ends)
    Queue (straight as an arrow)

    What’s going on here?
    Am I looking at:
    1. Product shape variation
    2. Install depth difference (preference/error,etc)
    3. Optical illusion

I think it is the install. Mine does the same thing. When I did mine the bumper was off already so I didn’t really have a point of reference as to what it looked like. I will probably eventually deal with it, just not right now.

I have a few more pics. I don’t really think it’s that bad in person (how the pic looks)

I installed mine myself, the differences you see are from different depths on the bumper that people are installing. It’s not an easy solo job, if you do it yourself have a friend help.

If there is any advice I would give to solo installers it would be one

Use Alien tape to see what you are about to do before you screw it.

Ha, white one is actually mine! I did the install solo with the bumper on the car. Before test fit, I actually lined some clear 3m double sided tape towards the ends as I knew they would sag when holding the lip from the middle. It took about 3 attempts to get everything to line up the way I liked it. Once lined up, I peeled the double sided tape on both ends to help hold in place while screwing the bits in place. Also having 3 cardboard boxes (left, center, right) with the right height to hold the lip in place made the install a breeze.

How do you like the side pieces? Do they feel flimsy or do you hit them when entering/exiting vehicle? I really love maxton front/rear/spoiler but the back two pieces/sides freak me out.

Same, mine has the angel and now I’ll never be able to see it. I also completely took off the bumper, but I noticed that if I pushed the lip any deeper into the bumper, I wouldn’t have been able to reach part of the bottom bumper to reattach it. IMG_4386.jpg

Yessir! I found it much easier to align with the bumper on. Depending on how u align the lip, it can cause the ends to be angled slightly.
With the bumper on, you can easily tell if it’s straight or not.

Wouldn't it make sense for the lip to be angled since the bottom of our bumpers has an upward angle as well? I just don't see how it could lay straight.

The lip for sure runs upward slightly.

I didn't LOVE them, but would add them again. They make for a cool look and provide some balance with the lip. You can for sure step on them when exiting.

Is this a standard Q5 Quattro? Thinking about adding it to mine, but I literally can’t find anything that’s supposed to fit.
