I have very particular taste and I don't expect most people to agree with the way I spec'd my car or the reasons why:
2023 RS6
1. Daytona Gray Matte - this was the launch color and press car color. IMHO, I think it is the best color for the car.
2. Black/Red Interior - classic combo. I like to keep everything consistent. My calipers are red, the Audi RS logos is red. I don't like introducing tertiary colors.
3. Red RS Design Package - I like the extended leather and Alcantara this package adds. I also like the Red accents on the seat belts. Would have removed the Alcantara steering wheel if I had the option.
4. Carbon Optics - Speaks for itself, I think it vastly improves the quality of the exterior. 2nd choice would be the Alum-Optics, that package looks amazing with Daytona Gray.
5. Sport exhaust - If I were going to get a full aftermarket exhaust, I probably would skip this. However, I only plan to do the 034 Motorsport resonator delete and, somewhere down the road, downpipes. I'm going to keep the factory sports exhaust.
6. Red Ceramic Brakes - great value for what you are getting and, again, I like the keep the secondary colors consistent.
7. B&O Advanced - I listen to a lot of lossless audio, this was a necessity for me. It is great value for the money.
8. Audi Side assist - Give me a 360 degree camera and this system...that is all I need for drivers assistance. I don't use adaptive cruise, I don't use lane keep, and I don't like emergency automatic braking...that system almost caused an accident for me while I was driving a Q7 loaner. I drive like humans have been driving for 100 years, I keep my eyes on the road and my hands on the wheel.
9. Alcantara Headliner - this VASTLY improves the interior quality and road noise. This was a new option for 2023 and I'm happy my build got bumped from a '22 to '23. I had an alcantara roof in my S6 and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Why I didn't get:
1. Executive Package - I think the HUD ruins the clean look of the dash. Also, I don't want to deal with the soft close doors. From my experience, even if I tell my passengers about it, they will still slam the doors. Too me, that only adds up to an expensive service bill down the road when the actuators fail. I'm perfectly capable of parking the vehicle myself with just a 360 camera so I don't need the park assist. If you rely on the remote parking assist, you need to revisit some driver's education classes. Finally, I can get the extended leather this package offers with the Design Selection package.
2. Driver's Assistance - No thanks, I will drive the vehicle myself and pay attention to others around me. I don't text while driving, I don't have any children to deal with, so I have no need to rely on a system to help my drive. Also, the front grille of the RS6/7 look dumb with the ADAS sensors on it. They look like toll modules from the mid 90s. The front end just looks better without the cruise control distance senors. The other thing is, if you need to remove the front bumper, you need to re-calibrate all the senors and it isn't cheap.
3. Night Vision - thought about optioning this because I do worry about deer. I decided against it because this system is extremely expensive to service when it breaks. The camera itself is $3-4k.
4. Contour Seats - These look like grandpa seats. I have them in my RS7 and they do nothing for me. I don't use the massage functions.
Additional items:
1. I despise the black Audi rings and badges. I wish we had a choice for them in the US. There is not enough contrast on the front grille without the chrome badges. I first saw this back when the B6 generation was brand new, didn't like it then, don't like it now. I think it looks sloppy. On the rear, you can't even read the RS6 designation. I already bought the chrome badges and when I get PPF done, the guy said he will switch them.
2. Aftermarket wheels - I'm very odd with this. I don't like the way aftermarket wheels look on any vehicle. I get why people get them but, to me, it ruins the overall aesthetic. Nothing against HRE or iForged, they make excellent wheels but they aren't for me. The exception for me is swapping different Audi wheels to models that didn't have that style equipped originally. One example I can think of, a friend had a 2014 Audi A7 with the factory 19s. He swapped them with the 21' rotor wheels from the 2018 S7..it looks amazing.
