How did you spec your RS6?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a Sonoma Green (AE color) RS6 on order and spec'd it out as follows:

    Sonoma Green exterior
    Cognac interior
    Red calipers
    Black optics
    Executive Package
    Driver Assistance Package
    Sport exhaust
    Night vision

What do people think of the Executive Package, Driver Assistance and Night Vision? I was on the fence with those, but added them. I still have time to change if I want.

    Carbon optic pkg
    Dynamic Ride Control suspension
    Sport Exhaust
    B&O Advanced
    RS Design Pkg in red
    Executive Pkg

I avoided the driver assistance pkg for personal reasons and considered the executive pkg a slam dunk.

    • Daytona Grey
    • Mate Aluminum Design Package (standard)
    • Red brake calipers
    • RS Design Package in Red (red stitching, red accent seat belts, flat bottom alcantara steering wheel, upper door sill, centre console and dash in leather, )
    • Dynamic Package (RWS, Quattro Sport Diff, Dynamic Steering, 280km/h top speed)
    • 22" Titanium wheels

The RS6 comes quite loaded here in Canada, such as the Sport Exhaust, soft close doors, rear seat heating, ventilated front seats, LED matrix/LASER headlights, HUD, and more included. We would have gladly done without the Driver Assistance package as we find it quite annoying, but sadly Audi Canada made it standard for MY2022. The options we skipped:
    • Upgraded B&O sound system
    • Night Vision Assistant
    • CCB
    • Dynamic Ride Control Suspension

So did anyone get night vision and is it worth it? How about Driver Assistance? how intrusive is it?

Not enough of an audiophile/owner of high quality tracks to appreciate the upgraded B&O and not a big fan of the intrusive implementation of the driver assist features on my current RS5, as a bonus leaving out the DAP leaves a much cleaner grill up front.

Skipped Driver Assistance, night vision, B&O, ceramics. Really debated about the ceramics - mainly as I put on winter wheels/tires every year; honestly slightly worried about chipping one of them by mistake. My Turbo S has centerlock ceramics, but it has a special tool that essentially prevents the wheel from ever hitting the disc when removing, etc. I can wash the car a few times extra for 10k.

Executive is a no brainer. Extended leather and soft-closing doors adds to upscale feel, head-up display is useful, and heated rear seats are nice if you ever carry passengers in a cool climate.

Driver Assistance just because I am used to having it. Not experienced with the Audi system, so not sure yet how intrusive it may be. I know it can be dialed down some in the settings.

I passed on night-vision. I have it on my current BMW, and rarely found it useful, even with a fair amount of country road driving.

Everything except Night Vision and DRC. Passed on the Night Vision because I have it on my SQ8 and I don't find it useful. Decided against DRC because I live in Michigan :)

    2022 RS7 (not an RS6 but similar/same decisions )
Sebring Black - took a chance and really like it especially on a sunny day
    Black w/ Express Red stitching
    RS Design Pkg, Red
Sport Exhaust - have enjoyed it so far and is loud enough for me
DRC - no issues with it but probably would not have missed it (only thing I might have done differently)
B&O Adv - I like it but hard to say it is really worth the $ - personal preference
Driver Assist - adds to the luxury car 'feel'
Carbon Pkg - I think it works well with the Sebring Black
Exec Pkg - obviously this really makes you feel like you're in a high-end car
NVA - I drive a good bit at night and had a bad experience with a deer in previous car. And some near misses. Counting on this to help but no guarantees, of course.
Red Steel - I have full ppf and ceramic, including wheels - I do notice the brake dust but it's relatively easy to spray away
2022 RS7 - Sebring Black | Black w/ Express Red stitching | RS Design Pkg, Red | Sport Exhaust | DRC | B&O Adv | Driver Assist | Carbon Pkg | Exec Pkg | NVA | Red Steel

I opted for Night Vision and am glad for it. Living in rural area with lots of deer, has spotted a few and provided warning before they were visible.

Currently debating whether or not to add the carbon ceramics due to the discussion about replacement costs for the steels over a similar time periods.

Also debating the rs sport seats vs the individual contour because I really want the massage function….but the honeycomb stitching looks so good!

Update: I sat in an A6 with the massaging individual contour seats and will definitely be getting them instead of the sport seats. My back is already thanking me 😂

Daytona gray with the plan to stealth xpel wrap. More expensive than going AE matte but I can take it off, self healing, less maintenance, and faster to get one than AE
Carbon package with titanium wheels- the gloss black look like flowers to me and way to common. In hindsight wish I had gone silver
B&O advanced cause I like to jam out
Executive package- no brainer and required for cognac interior
Driver assistance- resale and safety, can turn it off if you don’t like it and my understanding is the grill is the same no matter what. Just filled in hexagons otherwise which is no better. Wish there was a metal grill over plastic
Didn’t paint the calipers. $500 not a bad deal but would rather have them gold/bronze later in life.
No CCB but kind of wish I had after reading on here.
Sport exhaust- says on this forum it’s just black tips, nothing different, wish I had stayed with the silver for aesthetic reasons only now.
No night vision- had it on my 2013 S8 and really not that useful. I’m looking out the windshield in these circumstances. But with full matrix enabled headlights it does some cool stuff like flash at a person or animal to help you see them. Not worth the money though.
No massage seats on a $100k+ car is Robbery.

    Good luck!

I think the least useful option is the night vision. It's not completely useless thou. Sometimes it helps detect pedestrians and animals at night, but it's not a big deal really. If you don't drive for extended hours on highway or don't have any traffic, you can skip the driver assistance as well. The ACC is really helpful in traffic. It basically releases me from driving in congestion. Executive pkg is a no brainer imo. These should be standard in RS6.

I hate you. lol!!! That's pretty much how I ordered mine. It was kicked back to the dealer after six months by Audi, so I settled on buying one "off the floor" that didn't even have simple options. I am unhappy to this day (three months later). I sooooo wanted that Sonoma metallic and cognac! I have black on black. Enjoy the hell outta that car, will you please!!!

I think executive package is a must on this car, the extended leather is really nice and the soft close doors are great if you have little kids! Awesome spec man!

I have very particular taste and I don't expect most people to agree with the way I spec'd my car or the reasons why:

    2023 RS6
    1. Daytona Gray Matte - this was the launch color and press car color. IMHO, I think it is the best color for the car.
    2. Black/Red Interior - classic combo. I like to keep everything consistent. My calipers are red, the Audi RS logos is red. I don't like introducing tertiary colors.
    3. Red RS Design Package - I like the extended leather and Alcantara this package adds. I also like the Red accents on the seat belts. Would have removed the Alcantara steering wheel if I had the option.
    4. Carbon Optics - Speaks for itself, I think it vastly improves the quality of the exterior. 2nd choice would be the Alum-Optics, that package looks amazing with Daytona Gray.
    5. Sport exhaust - If I were going to get a full aftermarket exhaust, I probably would skip this. However, I only plan to do the 034 Motorsport resonator delete and, somewhere down the road, downpipes. I'm going to keep the factory sports exhaust.
    6. Red Ceramic Brakes - great value for what you are getting and, again, I like the keep the secondary colors consistent.
    7. B&O Advanced - I listen to a lot of lossless audio, this was a necessity for me. It is great value for the money.
    8. Audi Side assist - Give me a 360 degree camera and this system...that is all I need for drivers assistance. I don't use adaptive cruise, I don't use lane keep, and I don't like emergency automatic braking...that system almost caused an accident for me while I was driving a Q7 loaner. I drive like humans have been driving for 100 years, I keep my eyes on the road and my hands on the wheel.
    9. Alcantara Headliner - this VASTLY improves the interior quality and road noise. This was a new option for 2023 and I'm happy my build got bumped from a '22 to '23. I had an alcantara roof in my S6 and I wouldn't have it any other way.

    Why I didn't get:
    1. Executive Package - I think the HUD ruins the clean look of the dash. Also, I don't want to deal with the soft close doors. From my experience, even if I tell my passengers about it, they will still slam the doors. Too me, that only adds up to an expensive service bill down the road when the actuators fail. I'm perfectly capable of parking the vehicle myself with just a 360 camera so I don't need the park assist. If you rely on the remote parking assist, you need to revisit some driver's education classes. Finally, I can get the extended leather this package offers with the Design Selection package.
    2. Driver's Assistance - No thanks, I will drive the vehicle myself and pay attention to others around me. I don't text while driving, I don't have any children to deal with, so I have no need to rely on a system to help my drive. Also, the front grille of the RS6/7 look dumb with the ADAS sensors on it. They look like toll modules from the mid 90s. The front end just looks better without the cruise control distance senors. The other thing is, if you need to remove the front bumper, you need to re-calibrate all the senors and it isn't cheap.
    3. Night Vision - thought about optioning this because I do worry about deer. I decided against it because this system is extremely expensive to service when it breaks. The camera itself is $3-4k.
    4. Contour Seats - These look like grandpa seats. I have them in my RS7 and they do nothing for me. I don't use the massage functions.

    Additional items:
    1. I despise the black Audi rings and badges. I wish we had a choice for them in the US. There is not enough contrast on the front grille without the chrome badges. I first saw this back when the B6 generation was brand new, didn't like it then, don't like it now. I think it looks sloppy. On the rear, you can't even read the RS6 designation. I already bought the chrome badges and when I get PPF done, the guy said he will switch them.
    2. Aftermarket wheels - I'm very odd with this. I don't like the way aftermarket wheels look on any vehicle. I get why people get them but, to me, it ruins the overall aesthetic. Nothing against HRE or iForged, they make excellent wheels but they aren't for me. The exception for me is swapping different Audi wheels to models that didn't have that style equipped originally. One example I can think of, a friend had a 2014 Audi A7 with the factory 19s. He swapped them with the 21' rotor wheels from the 2018 S7..it looks amazing.
    2023 RS6- Daytona Gray Matte
    2015 RS5 Cabrio- Panther Black
    (sold) 2014 RS7- Estoril Blue
    (sold) 2017 S6- Brilliant Black
    (sold) 2015 S3- Glacier White
    (sold) 2005 S4- Dolphin Gray

With initial thoughts and anxiety about wait times for the new 2024 RS6 Performance... My initial thought is to spec it as follows:

    1. Goodwood Green Pearl paint or Kemora Gray paint (I DONT KNOW WHAT TO PICK!!)
    2. Matte Neodynium Gold wheels
    3. RS Design Package Red, alcantara inlays
    4. Carbon Ceramics w/ Red Calipers
    5. Executive Package
    6. Drivers Assistance Package
    7. Carbon Optics Package
    8. Sport Exhaust... obviously (if it is not standard)

    Welcome any feedback.

Secondary option if AE orders look to be taking too long is:
    1. Ascari Blue Metallic paint
    2. Matte Black Wheels
    3. RS Design Package - Blue
    4. Carbon Optics
    5. Carbon Ceramics w/ Red Calipers
    6. Drivers Assistance Package
    7. Sports Exhaust (if not standard)
    8. Executive Package
Current: 2023 Audi RS6 Avant - Daytona Grey; CCBs; Carbon Optics; AWE Exhaust; OEM RS6-P Bronze Wheels; APR Intake

    2. Matte Black Wheels
    3. RS Design Package - Blue
    4. Carbon Optics
    5. Carbon Ceramics w/ Red Calipers
    6. Drivers Assistance Package
    7. Sports Exhaust (if not standard)
    8. Executive Package
You may have an issue trying to get Goodwood Green, I know for a fact that Porsche is not offering that color because they can't get the gold flake in the paint. Also, add the alcantara headliner. It may cost $3000 but it makes the interior look $10,000 better.

Appreciate the good advice on that... Goodwood Green is a fantastic color... But if it's gonna take a long time, I guess I will just be sad. Yeah, I was thinking about the headliner as well. Had it in other cars... so I may spec that as well.

My only concern with the RS Package was the steering wheel. I had a BMW with an Alcantara wheel and wouldn’t do it on a daily driver. Maybe the material is better now, but it “pilled” up like a sweater.

Definitely a concern on my current car. Have not had any issues so far. I would spec the leather package, if the RS package wasn't tied to the Performance variant inlays (blue carbon twill and the alcantara inlays).

    1. Goodwood Green Pearl paint or Kemora Gray paint (I DONT KNOW WHAT TO PICK!!)
    2. Matte Neodynium Gold wheels
    3. RS Design Package Red, alcantara inlays
    4. Carbon Ceramics w/ Red Calipers
    5. Executive Package
    6. Drivers Assistance Package
    7. Carbon Optics Package
    8. Sport Exhaust... obviously (if it is not standard)

    Welcome any feedback.

Ascari looks terrific, although I'm very partial to blue, have a matte ultra blue 2022....makes me wish we had the blue brake caliper option like Canada and the ROW
