Angry My Experience so far with TVS TCU Tune...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I bit the bullet a few weeks back, purchasing the stage 2+ TVS TCU tune. I had heard great things, and the tune boasts improved drivability in addition to bolstered driving dynamics. However, my experience so far has been far from that. I would love to hear from others if they had a similar experience initially.
Besides the painful install, which took a week of back and forth; I was sent a dongle already locked to a different VIN (which TVS says is not in their system) which is puzzling, I was just excited to eventually get the TCU flashed....
Almost 100 miles later and I do not have really anything good to say.
Extremely unpredictable behavior in both D and S, (sometimes kicking down from 3rd to 1st and other times not kicking down at all etc), beyond laggy and delayed shifts in manual, with noticeably less crispness than factory. In manual I am having issues with clutch disengaging and not engaging a new gear, or even getting stuck near redline refusing to shift up. The digital dash indicated gear often does not correlate to the gear I am actually in (for instance shift from 2nd to 3rd, dash shows "S6"). Beyond a very confidence-uninspiring-effect, and general downgrade compared to stock, I am concerned the tune is causing physical damage. In auto there are many new-to-me lurches, clunks and other sounds and vibrations. Everyone online hinted towards this being the best option on the market; and from everything I am experiencing I find that impossible to believe. Any help would be really appreciated.

yikes, not my experience at all...

    1. flashing, was super easy as long as you selected dQ380 as the trans type, got my tune the next business day after providing the stock info to Eurocode then took maybe 3-5 minutes to flash TCU
    2. Drivability in all modes is awesome, im using the Unitronic st1+ ecu. I have none of the issues you describe, exact opposite actually. have you verified that you got the right tune? mines a 2019 and the file name is DQ500 MQB Bosch PF Ver1 for the stage 2 plus tcu tune.
Stage 1 more than you RS3

That was my thought, but the file name is the same as yours. The actually process to flash only took a few minutes but the process of getting the dongle to work was a sht show

I've ridden in a TVS TCU tuned RS3 and it was perfection. I think something is wrong with your setup/tune, especially considering all of the issues you encountered in the beginning. Are you sure you have the correct tune loaded? Can they send you a new dongle with a fresh tune to load? Have you performed a clutch adaptation just to see if that helps?

Did clutch adaption via VCDS after 20-30 miles. Had no effect.

What did your copy look like from your TCU? Mine is below. Any fault codes stored in the TCU?

in my experience, the DSG file is not the correct version for your vehicle. That will explain all this unpredictable behaviour and showing incorrect gears etc.

flash it back to stock. if all is well then it's definitely the TCU tune.

Perhaps get your TCU updated with the latest OEM file and then send a fresh read for them to tune. This normally solves most issues (All my customers that experienced similar DSG issues I went this route).

As mentioned by the other member's reply...it could be the ECU tune (i doubt this) but it could be a possibility.

Start with the TCU tune / OEM updated version and take it from there.

If you updated the dongle and reflashed stage2 then it should be good.

I thought it may have been torque scaling/limit issue. DS increased the compatibility for TCU tunes in past updates. I'm not sure of the what the issue is then...

I'd go back to the stock TCU for now until things get sorted.

They are sending me an OEM file shortly, and then will go from there.

Interesting. I have had no issues with my tvs s2+ tcu tune paired with my ds1 custom ecu tune. Car drives and shifts great in any mode. Never had an issue with it showing incorrect info on the dash.

Something is wrong with yours for sure. I'm not sure what, but I'd suggest flashing back to stock, reflashing and see how that does.

Did you do the clutch adaptation thing with the vcds after the flash?

Yup, did the adaptation after driving around for a little bit. Waiting on TVS to send me an OEM file.

I have had my TVS tune since 2019 and it's been perfect with no Hiccups with my APR 1+ tunes, both E85 and 91 Octane.

I would flash back to stock, have them double check the file and reflash.

I heard back from them and they are saying the file is correct. Will keep everyone updated, I have been instructed to reflash and to not reset basic clutch adaption with VCDS

Did it run OK when flashed to stock?

Who did you buy the dongle and tune from? They should be leading this.

I actually heard back a minute ago, not sure if its a coincidence or not... I am communicating through the retailer which has gone above and beyond with communication, TVS; not so much.

TVS has completely ghosted me, haven't responded in weeks. Would not recommend to anyone.
