Removing center console to fix arm rest?

Has anyone removed their center console to replace the mount bracket before? The arm rest support suddenly went weak and makes it slam shut. I took a bunch of stuff apart, but now I’m wondering how much more do I need to go, front seats, whole center console? Any help is appreciated.

possible to fix with no prior knowledge, but a pain in the ass. took almost 4 hours of me playing guess work, but now I can probably do it in half the time. next time dropping off at a shop. if anyone attempts and gets stuck, just dm me.

This will be helpful if it happens to others thanks for sharing.

How hard was removing the MMI Button section? My back button is sticking. I am sure from sodas since our cup holder location is terrible.

For removing the mmi controls/console cover, there are three hidden torx screws, one under the rubber cover for that little tray on the bottom right, then under the finish molding (CF/ALU), which you pry off, and one under the shift knob leather, which you also pry off. The whole shift knob and boot comes straight up after that, then you can pry off the whole cover as one piece, being careful to pry every corner straight up, working your way around so you don’t break any clips.

Next time I'd recommend downloading the workshop manuals from Elsa/Erwin.

Yep, comes in handy every now and then haha. I think you can pay a small fee for an hour license and essentially download every pdf for your car. They're rather useful when stumped.

I need to get my radio preset button board out. Some soda dripped from the lid of a cup in the cupholder and now the buttons are all sticky and don't operate well.

Really it's enough time to download several cars worth. I downloaded for my S4, my B7 A4, my wife's Q5, and a friends B8 S4. It's really an excellent deal!
