No response from controller error when trying to get VCDS engine meas. blocks.

Not sure what's up now, but I'm trying to track down a rough rom band and machine gun style studder at higher rpms. It's not drastic, but it's there.

Tried to get into VCDS ...I have the hex V2 cable and updated software and firmware and I get the message "no response from controller". I looked at a few other threads, but just wondering if anyone has had this problem out of the blue before. It was working fine a few months ago and I haven't changed anything on the car.

    Any ideas?

You can talk to the other controllers?

I had this issue and it turned out to be a setting in my ECU my tuner had to change.

Yeah, I can talk to a couple but that's it. It performed the auto scan ok, but didn't find any errors which I think is because of the underlying issue. I'm pretty sure that I had used VCDS post tune and definitely was able to connect with the other cable for nefmoto before. This car is very challenging... I wish I didn't like it sometimes.. hahaha

I just checked the email i have with my tuner and the only hint i could find isbelow..

    Code:
There is a setting we use to increase the read time of the ECU, it can cause some interference. We can revert that back to stock if needed.
If you are tuning via nefmoto i cant help more because that is completely uncharted territory to me but maybe this will be the bread crumb you need to fix it yourself.

They are probably referring to the baud rate, I'll look into it, I didn't know there was an ecu setting that changed that, always thought that was something that was handled by the software end. Thanks I'll look into it. Anything I can eliminate is good.

What's your soft coding setting on the ECU? If you can open the engine module from vcds it should show something like 06711 (or similar to that, I'm going off memory here) for a 6 speed manual with ESP.
