    Rs6 exhaust options

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi everyone,

Been looking at few of the exhaust options. Currently liked the milltek sound, but brands like ipe, fi, capstrio is also an option(not really akrapovic fan in this case, I have been told that they are not as loud). I been looking through some videos on YouTube, but the videos are not really consistent. I wonder if anyone has done a full milltek with downpipe or other brands, how does it sound and is it loud?

    Appreciate any responses!

I have done the Red Star resonator delete and I would describe it this way. It is now “AMG G63 loud” but I am looking for more in line with “Jaguar F-Type R loud”. The Red Star DP’s with 200 cell cats and the resonator delete seems like a good option.

It seems at looking at the videos and tuning in to others; if you add Downpipes, you definitely add volume. Martin said that the Milltek system is quite a bit louder; in a lot of the videos I agree they don't always seem really different. Sometimes they guys think they do, sometimes they don't. Res Delete sure seems to be Stock + in volume. I'm waiting to see what AWE comes out with. Akra seems the quietest across the board. Hard for me to spend that $ with a minimum increase.... the new Valvetronic that came out seems louder as well, though again it's 5k. I'm skipping downpipes for potential CEL and warranty issues...

Thank you, I think I'll wait a bit see what more comes out.

I have the factory sport exhaust, and I've done the redstar resonator delete and it helped some. The Unitronic 1+ I feel like helped with the sound a bit too. Have the Fabspeed 200 cell downpipes coming next which I think will get me where I want without having to do anything to the back section of the exhaust.

I have the Milltek exhaust which comes with their own resonator delete. I had just the redstar Res delete before but it left me wanting more volume. If you’re going to use different companies for the res delete and exhaust make sure they fit up. The red star res delete would not mate up to the Milltek exhaust due to length. Overall I’m very happy with the Milltek exhaust. I’ll be adding redstar catted downpipes here soon, which should make it sound even better. I have a couple exhaust clips on my TikTok and insta @jstawgn_vt of the Milltek exhaust. I also have an APR tune as well as an Eventuri intake which might contribute to a slight difference in sound.

Please do not buy from Redstar. Their products are produced in Russia.
While we should not fault all Russian people, this is absolutely not the time to be purchasing Russian goods. It is immoral, and inhumane to say the least.

This is the route I'm gonna take 1st before I decide to drop big coin on an aftermarket exhaust system.

Anyone put on a IPE or Tubi Exhaust on their RS6 or RS7? Or heard one?

I am looking at the IPE exhaust as well. Only clip I found was on their site and was on a RS7.

Really liked how it sounds, seems civilized when valve closed but quite a beast when open.

A video I did after my RedStar res delete to go with the GEN2 400 downpipes I’d done earlier. Car sounds amazing while driving. The initial startup can be and has been a shock for people IVO the area or if they are walking behind the car

Ugh. Just talked to John at AWE - was told end of January initially, then end of March, now being told end of May... they had a huge issue with getting tips. He's super nice, but damn. Not sure if I'm willing to wait another 2 months to hear it's not ready yet. Now looking at Tubi, IPE, Supersprint, Milltek... Sure wish someone had a different system besides Milltek or Akra to hear... maybe just cut out the resonators and center muffler like the guy on youtube? Maybe that would be enough? I want a volume increase for sure, but don't want to drop 5k on one and not have it noticeable like it seems Milltek may be?

Milltek is definitely noticeable. Prior to installing Akra, input was that it wasn't much of a difference over res delete, but that is not the case.

Best bang for the buck is definitely Milltek. Capristo is a great option too but a bump in price.

Milltek may be having a spring sale soon too as an FYI.

I went with deleting the resonators and center muffler like "the guy on youtube." I'm happy with it, since it's local, and the same muffler shop did my "turn downs" in my old Raptor. Much better, not obnoxiously loud and I didn't attract any v6 challenger, charger, camaro, or 4 cyl. Altima's while I drove through downtown Atlanta yesterday.

Does the redstar kit also remove the center muffler? In their product page there are 4 pipes even though there are only 2 resonators on the car.

No. Only the front resonators (one on each pipe) as they don’t have an option for the center suitcase resonator.

How much did they charge? I’m picking my car up in Atlanta and thinking about doing the same thing. Or maybe just the front two resonators to make it louder, but not too loud.

The main reason I haven't pulled the trigger on the Milltek is it's seeming excessive popcorn/farts... I don't mind a few on overrevs, but some of the videos sound like a movie theater popcorn machine... Martin, does it sound like that with normal driving?

Not sure which videos you are referring to but many have a tune on the car as well. From customers with stock cats and no tunes, their feedback and from what I've heard in person, cracks and burbles are more audible but not over the tops pops. RS6 isn't tuned that way. RS5, I'd say yes in Dynamic is had loud excessive pops but not the RS6. Mild and not crazy is the description I've gotten.

That's the description in Dynamic. Would be much more subdued in Auto since cars stock programming doesn't add much upon deceleration.

I have Milltek with stock downpipes and it's not even remotely describable as "popcorn/farts". That is a perfect description for my old F80 though...

Like Martin said it just makes the stock sounds more audible. I would describe it as a muted burble on downshifts, only when the transmission is in S mode. I've heard the occasional louder pop/crack, but that's usually only when the car is cold. The burbles are completely turned off in D.

You may be seeing videos of tuned cars. MTM has a "sound" tune that is quite obnoxious

I have the redstar res delete and downpipes and I love it. It’s loud but sounds great. I also have the active sound module to keep the valves always open which makes it even louder
