Battery coding help for 2018 S3 FVP battery

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
How do I code this battery?
There's no BEM code. At the minimum I would need the Ah rating but I couldn't find this info online.

2018 S3, so the battery needs to be coded...

battery is: FVP P48AGM (AGM (Extended Life)) Platinum AGM; BCI Group 48; CCA 760; 140 Reserve Capacity

    Thanks!!

Well...you need an OBD device that is capable of communication with that specific module.

    Like VCDS.

I have a 2018 Audi A3 Quattro. I need to replace my battery and am running into this battery coding thing myself.
If the replacement battery does NOT have a BEM code, what do I do?

I was hoping to get an AGM Interstate battery at Costco. Browsing the internet is giving me mixed messages about how to proceed. I have a real Rosstech cable that I have barely ever used, but no windows laptop at the moment .

    Thanks in advance!

Oh, BTW. OEM battery is a Banner 6R0 915 105 B, which is now obsolete. My PR code seems to be J0T, which isn't a choice most places I look.
Audi recommended a 000 915 105 CC battery as a replacement @ $267, so almost $100 more than the Costco AGM battery.

Some others are much more knowledgeable than me so take this with a grain of salt. I had dealers replace my battery twice and I recently put in the 4th battery (15 s3 purchased in Dec 14). When I went to code the new battery which was identical to the one I was replacing (got new battery from local dealer parts department) I noticed the coding had been wrong the entire time the old battery was in (not coded AGM and slightly off Ah). The first two batteries did not last more than 2 years. The third AGM battery lasted 4 years with the wrong coding. Based on that, I'm not sure the coding matters much.

    NoseyP,

Thank you. I am going to pick up the new AGM Interstate battery today and try to find a windows laptop I can load VCDS on. I used to have a little $90 windows tablet for VCDS, but it died...

I finally borrowed a laptop, dropped in the new battery and got the car coded. I used the Adaptation option and was able to specify the battery capacity and type (chose AGM - Binary) and just rolled the serial number by 1 digit. Car started up fine and now the start/stop function works again.

I wonder about the coding too - hard to imagine how it would matter if putting more or less the same size and type back in. I've only done battery once on my 15', but it didn't require coding.

Hi, I also have a 2018 A3 with the same J0T code, can you specify which battery you ended up buying? I've been having trouble trying to find the right battery. Thanks in advance

I used the Interstate H6 (group 48) AGM battery from Costco, item number 1355770.

One thing to note, my dash lit up like a christmas tree the first time I started it after the battery change. Not sure if it was necessary, but I turned the wheels left/right in an attempt to clear the steering errors then took it for a quick drive. All the lights cleared themselves at the end of the drive.

Just replaced original EFB battery in 2018 S3 with battery from dealer (Duralast would have been a few bucks cheaper).
I wanted to keep everything the same, to avoid gremlins.
They gave me an AGM battery and said this is what is now recommended (for longer life; I think it has to do with stop/start function, which i have never liked and coded out, so I don't know if this will make a difference in terms of life).
I coded with OBD11, and, after researching online, chose 'fleece' option under battery type (AGM Binary was the other likely option).
Really just guessing; contacted OBD11 and waiting for their response, though their customer service has not been very helpful in past.

Interestingly, the sticker with the red 'positive' emblem on top of the battery was on the wrong side, so I thought they gave me the wrong battery; had to remove and shift to other side.

Seems to be ok, though certain things a bit different (my one touch window up/down doesn't work, which is odd)
Has anyone experienced this? Is there any adjustment for this?
