I’m trying to do some research about the e85 tune that’s available. Theres sources saying you can put straight e85 and some that you can only mix 93/and ethanol… so I’m not getting any straightforward answers lol

Can someone help me out? Can i just program the e85 tune and pump 85 or is there more to this?

Edit: if theres already a post about this just post a link so I’m not redundant

Which tune are you referring to? I’m running Integrated Engineering and their E85 tune. I measured the ethanol content of my nearest e85 pump and it turned out to be around e80 so I just top the car up with that straight no mixing.

EDIT: forgot to ask if this is for an a6/7 or an s6/7. You can only run straight e85 on the S not the A. I believe A requires an upgraded HPFP

I have an A. So in order to do straight 85 without mixing, i need a new hpfp.

Is that an easy diy thing?

Also i currently have the JHM ecu/tcu. I’m tempted to get the 034 ecu tune (literally mainly for the crackle cuz im a dweeb) but i need opinions about using a different manufacturer ecu than the tcu , but I’m not here for that lol.

HPFP upgrade is easy if you buy the special tool for $10, I don't know how I would have been able to do this without damaging anything if I didn't have the tool. There are videos online that walk you through it.

CTUB 3.0 Motor: Only capable of up to E40, requires HPFP
CREC 3.0 Motor (Only found in 2016-2018 A6/A7 in North America): Capable of full E85 on stock fuel components up to single pulley boost levels
EA824 4.0 Motor: S6/7 Capable of full E85 on stock turbos, any further mods requires fueling upgrades, RS7 for instance can't run full E85 because turbos produce too much boost for stock fuel components on E85.
    Current: 2015 S7
    Prior: 2016 A6 (CREC C7.5 1/4 Mile Record Holder)

If you want to upgrade the hpfp, don't get an autotech piston for the time being. The ones produced in approx the last year have a very high failure rate. I'd recommend the ie pump

I have a 2018 A6 3.0T and I am considering the IE tune so that I can run E85. For those of you that are running E85 (or close to that) on the CREC, did you upgrade your fuel lines? I've been reading that ethanol can be corrosive to fuel lines. Any concerns with moisture uptake by the E85? I don't drive my car that much so sometimes I go a month between fill ups. When you run E85 do you run it all the time or do you only run it as needed say when you go to the dragstrip?

NO I didn't upgrade my fuel lines. From what someone from IE said, the lines are fine on the CREC engine.
It was posted in another thread on here. But the quote came straight from a rep from IE.

Other than gas mileage sucking, I don't regret e85 at all. But the price discount on e85 vs 91/93 off sets it.

Humor me, whats your gas mileage like? I’m looking to get the hpfp especially now that 93 is fucking $6 a gallon

Well to be honest like the same month I moved closer to work and the gym is the same time I did the tune. So I went from 26 hwy/ 18 city because I had a 15 mile drive to 20 hwy/ 13 city.
But that's because I have a really short drive now full of stops and goes. Car barely gets warm. And I get on it way more.

I really haven't gone on many 10 mile + plus drives in the last 4 months.

I would assume once we get warmer air and if I went on longer drives I would get 22/ 15.
